It is looking like I might get there for Saturday (plus sonny jim).

I was in the process of making a big KB flag but then I thought it might offend the copyright understanding and I didn't get round to it...

[Spank] Getting a flag sized logo made would be great for rallies. Is this a goer? Are there any objections to me making one?

Been thinking about doing some flags and giving them to various members from around the country to lend out, but I have a pretty high quality standard. Anyone know a good flag maker in NZ?

What a great idea....a KB flag!!

SpankMe
4th November 2005, 10:15
I've ordered the flag and I should get it before the 18th. At $400 it's not cheap, but quality costs. It will be 1.8m x 0.9m.

I'm gonna need a trusted, established KB member to send it to for this event. That person takes responsibility for the flag and it's return after the event.

Wow that was quick and downright generous Spank. Trying to think of some way that you can be repaid but something like puting a rental on it won't work unless the "responsible" person feels generous also.

Everyone should chip in a bit extra when ordering KB stuff.

Sounds like a good way to spend my weekend!! What sort of accom is available there and what kinda costs am I looking at to get in etc, might be a good saturday out anyway, especially if I have a few good guys to go down there with, so count me in as a starter.

The accommodation can be pasture with stars to keep you company or the tent you take with you or a Warewhare tarpaulin. The middle option is the best if it rains or if you like a little privacy.

The rally costs $20 if you prepay and $25 at the gate (which is what we'll be doing). Rally starts on the friday, but this lot tends to go for the saturday night. And most people camp out so bring ya tent and other bits you might want/need.

We'll probably leave on the saturday morning and go the inland route via the gorges to Geraldine....makes for a more interesting ride than straight down to Winchester.

Dangerous has the entry form which he can post up if you want to see some more info.

:niceone: so hopefully see ya there! :apumpin:

I've been without rain for four weeks now and have forgotten what it's like to be rained on (shat-on yes, I've had a share of THAT!!) so how about you lot arranging for a shit-load of dry for CB and I??.

Today was a cooler one in L.A. and heaps of sprots bikes out and and about in groups of 5 to 15, all looking very flash in their 'tooth-paste tube suits' - and not a tassle in sight, how very unnatural!!!

Saw some yesterday near Palm Springs - the lead and tail rider appeared to have some form of walkie-talkie attached to the side of their helmets.

All for now, say ya at the Magpir eh?

Something must be slowing you up D. Last time I was thru that route it took 1.5 hrs Chch-Geraldine. You going to count sheep or summat on the way?

For me it is looking like Friday nite (with sonny Jim and others) then cutting out some time Saturday to head to the back blocks of Geraldine where we have a forestry block - well scrub really. 20km of gravel road should be fun on the GS. Needs a new tyre soon so it will have to wait till after. Might catch you enroute and be looking out for other KBers at the rally.

Having had a bloody good night and a bit seedy this morning (CB) we headed through Waimate - brunch of whitebait sammies - then onto Omarama where we are ensconced for the night at the local hotel.
Flying Dutchman, when are you going to replace that chainsaw on wheels with a real motorbike with a proper number of cylinders (2 of)????
Looking forward to the pics.
Cheers

Had a great day at the rally, met a lot of KB'rs and they were all very friendly people and easy to talk to.

Met up with a lot of old friends from all over actually.:doobey:

Had a fantastic ride home but sad to say they have tar sealed the road from Dog kennel corner (Burkes Pass) to the Haka pass turnoff! That was a good piece of fast gravel. I guess I am just an old Luddite at heart, damn progress! :slap:

It was really nice to meet you all, hope to keep on meeting more of you too. Cheers, John.

Maybe when a Harley can out do the chainsaw on the road  Mind you they're pretty similar bikes - makes lots of noise and don't get anywhere in a hurry.

Well, great to catch up with all you KBers, nice to put faces to names, nice to see no arseholes among them too!
Would have been nice to catch up with Sniper (get a gps boy and learn to use it) Biff (where woz ya?) and onearmed bandit etc....
The night was too short to really catch up with y'all but NEXT time eh?

As CB mentioned, we spent the night at Omarama (pub owner let us use his gargre to store the Sporty) and headed off this morning as it started raining, first exitement came when after crossing the Lindis Saddle C.B. started furiously bashing my shoulder and then yelled "the bags have gone, they're not there!"

A quick look showed her to be half right - they were hanging behind the rear wheel with the straps still attached and against the rear tyre and a hole worn in our (was) waterproof bag!! Dang, still dunno HOW things came loose!

Carried on to Cromwell, had lunch and then headed for home -but second exitemnt on the trip was when C.B tried to kill us both by trying to 'adjust' my helmet while on the move and without warning - and COMPLETELY covering my eyes (she has previous for this type of thing) argh!! my pulse was just settling down when the 3rd exitement happened and I tried to kill us both by going into a skid while going round a bend a bit quick a few km from home, must have been some mud left by a cockie or something.

Never mind, home and safe and had fun, met great people!

(Good rally pics posted, well done all the contributing photographers!!)

Biff (where woz ya?)

I know, I know - I'm a soft cock. But as I'm not here from this weekend, possibly until crimbo eve, I thought it best to beat my kids all weekend lest they forget about me.

As much as I would liked to have drunk piss and talk shite at the rallye, I chose to do it at home instead.

Next time...

Glad y'all enjoyed.

Had a great weekend, met all the KBers previously mentioned and I might add not as dodgy as they would have us believe or are made out to be.

The weather was great (typical SI), sun hot, lots of sunburn, Dangerous' shoulders look real mean on Sunday.

Looking forward to doing it all over again at Glenorchy.

Oh, almost forgot to post about the incident when the 'Glowing Big Red Eye of Doom' reared its ugly head.

En route to the Magpie, stopping the night in Dunedin at the Hollowman Hacienda.
Got to Forbury Road ( about 2km from above address) and on it came, glowing like an atomic explosion (and reeking of $$$ down the tube).
Stopped, checked oil level/temperature and listened for mechanical moise. All o.k.
Fired up and headed off to Hollowman Hacienda with crossed fingers and a weight on my heart but noticed the light went out if the revs went over 2,000 so kept revs above that.
Next morning while the oil was still cold and thick I set off for McIver and Vietch (H-D dealers) about 3km away.
Short story: fitted new switch and all was bliss as per postings re the Magpie.

Footnote: this is the THIRD switch I've fitted to the Sporty - they say this is the model that replaces the other faulty esign ones - we'll see!! (others just stopped working all together)
