only been on pukekohe and taupo and out of the both of them i would say i like taupo the best , if only it had a slightly longer back straight it would be even better, but i like the twisty hard braking taupo as opposed to the flat out all the time pukekohe.

Well Manfield cause it's the only place I've been to!!
Gave the 'ol XJ death and for some reason less and less people bothered to pass. Either they also had to drive home too or they had been promoted out of the newbies!!

Very hard choice between ruapuna and timaru, I'll take ruapuna only because its a bit longer than levels. On a bucket levels is alot better but on something a bit faster ruapuna just has a little more variety.

Well, if they were all perfectly sealed, and the same distance and cost, I'd go to all of 'em wouldn't I.

Ruapuna is my favourite I've ridden. It's proper technical with a bit of everything for everyone. Because of the length it's a real challenge to get each and every lap sorted. Peeling off the immensly long front straight into turn one with over 280 showing on the clock is daunting. Scraping the peg right through the final turn onto the front straight, as it opens up to that huge, wide dragstrip, letting it run right out to the line, throttle pegged. Corrrrr! Excuse me a minute.

If they'd sort the fucken surface on the normal part, Manfeid long would be next. Although not offering the same speeds ans Ruapuna, it's probably even more technical due to the differences in design between the front and rear part of the track.

Then Pukekohe. I absolutely LOVE the really high speeds on the edge of your tyres. The blind turns at Jenian Homes and John Deer are extremely fast and take massive kahunas to attack at 10/10ths. Stand on the outside of Jenian Homes one day and watch a quick, committed rider like Two smoker through there and it's hard not to be impressed.

Taupo is great fun but other than the final sweeping turn, not too dificult. I particularly enjoy the shortness of the track, it's really easy to get into a rythym and the laps just fly by. Bit of a handfull on a 1K but a shitload of fun on a 400 or six hundy.

Manfeild short, before the surface got so fucked, was pretty cool (all racetracks are) but now it just gives me the shits. Obviously, they're working on it and it will be fantastic again but for the time being, it's crap. The layout's alright, but it's a bit stop start/3 drag races type track for my liking. Between "Coke" and the hairpin is magic. The front straight is great if there's no wind and you can steer a bike through the kink on one wheel. That's cool fun.

I can't wait to spend a few weeks down south on Levels and Teretonga now.

What I would like to point out though, is Manfeild is getting a nice (and much needed) revamp. Watching the Formula challenge on TV1 today, I see the extension has already been started at Taupo. Hampton Downs is getting the nod. It's a great time to be a road racer or trackday addict in the North Island.

other than the S bend and the hairpin it is kinda flatout, i found it a bit like that on the 250 but then a ZX10 is a whole new ball park i suppose... what do i know anyway :violin: :rofl:

With a bit more work I think Puke would have to be the best. watching bikes and cars going around at the speeds they are doing it fantastic.

havent actually had the zx10 at puke yet , planning to go this month , 23rd?
my last bike was a gixxer seven fiddy , that was pretty much flat out all the way , well it felt like it anyway , think i was doing a lap time of 1min 5 seconds , my zx10r has a lap timer built in to the speedo so will be interesting to see any improvements????? though i have to say my "self preservation" mode is a lot stronger than it used to be , dont really want to crash my bike and i dont really have to prove anything to anyone that i am some kind ok hard arse racer , its all about fun!

I love ruapuna because the place head fucks me--I just cant figure it out.
manfeild is a shit load of fun and suprisingly hard work -ya gota love the buzz of getting turn 2 -5 just right.
Pukie--well pukie is my nemisis -the place scares me.
Taupo is fun and the sweeper is so darned hard to get right.
My vote goes to RUAPUNA for the best NZ track.
But now Laguana seca --now woooweee thats a track

I like ruapuna, its small and technical - I think its a 600 track + its the only one with elevation changes that I've been to in NZ (the dipper).

They need more tracks with elevation changes - thats what makes bike racing exciting, otherwise they just become technical by the numbers jobs.

I'd also like them to have different lines (some of the tracks do) - lots of short straights and off camber corners - coz that messes up the big bikes muchly.

Best track, would have to be brands hatch tho.

I'm gonna say teretonga cos no-one else has... I'm from the south, I've only been to teretonga and ruapuna.. Teretonga has a nice flat surface, really fast sweeping corners and me and my mates can go hire it for $40 a day... :Punk:

Levels would be my favourite as I think out of the tracks listed it's the hardest to get right and more technical than most and it's a good "small bike track" which rewards good smooth lines

Next would be the home track "Ruapuna" I don't think it's a particulary diffucult track but it has a good mix of slow/fast corners and straights and the best feature of any NZ track " the dipper" (even though I broke my wrist in it)

Manfield I've only ever run the full long track in a 250 Superkart, all it needs is a decent surface as the run off the front straight around to splash and through to the hairpin is awesome and the extension has some good corners on it to(and a good surface)

Teretonga off the front straight is pretty good as you carry a lot of speed around the loop and into the right hander although I don't think it's a very hard track to ride but the entry onto the straight catches a few people out

Taupo and Pukekohe I probably wouldn't bother with
