Want to connect a 12V battery tender to a 6V (Classic Triumph) battery. Is it OK to purchase a cheap, small 6V and hook up in tandem to do the job. or do they need to be similar batteries?

Just use one lead off your 12v charger.

Do not mix and match different size batteries in the same battery pack.

Just source a 6V tender.

might be an upgrade to charge it with 12V, but I think you'd need to drain & pour in the battery water from a 12V battery just to be on the safe side.
