Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone else has seen the same problem that i have, when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd sometimes you really have to put a lot into it, effort wise, I do use the clutch out of habit.. just wondering if this is common with this bike ? sometimes its fine, no other gears are effected, and its fine on the way down

WHEN WAS THE OIL LAST CHANGED? MY C1 WOULD GET HARD TO CHANGE WHEN THE OIL WAS OLD , ALSO IT TENDED TO CHANGE BEST WITH MOBIL 1 FOR BIKES

Just got the bike on Friday from red barron, i guess it should have been changed then, will have to call them and check, what oil do you run in the Gearbox dude, i Use Spectro SX clutch saver and Automatic trans fluid in the mx bike, but im guessing it will need something thicker ?

Gearbox and engine oil are one and the same in the 9R (and most (all?)wet clutch 4 stroke bikes)
The workshop manual says 10w40, 20w40, 10w50, or 20w50, SE, SF, or SG class.
That basically means any "normal" oil will do. Mine has full synthetic in it at the moment and the clutch drags. I think going to semi-synth or mineral should sort that out. Synthetic is a bit too thin for the clutch I think.

Hmmm i had a similar problem going from first into second on my cbr600. It turned out to be a worn second gear and bearings. Try changing the oil first but if nothing happens get them to rip apart the gearbox.

weird, ive been on the bike a fair bit in the last few days, rode it to work today, its really odd cause it doesnt do it anymore, maybe it was just a bit sticky ? it hasnt been ridden since it came in from japan... is that likely ?

ZX9R clutches or bikes in general often don't like fully synthetic oil and they slip if they're not used to it.
Its probably stopped sticking cause the linkages by your foot were a bit gummed up. It'd be worth dismantling the gear change lever foot rest etc, cleaning it and re-greasing then put it all back together, nicely adjusted
