As the title says, I'm after the slightly older model of the CBR that has a more exposed fairing look on them rather than the way older or newer model that has a near full fairing that covers the whole internals, however i find it hard to get a good deal in Auckland.

Budget: I prefer 7K at best but I'm willing to negotiate.

8K+ if bike is excellent condition.

Will pay cash/Deposit - PM me please.

Thanks.

Might need to raise that budget a bit to get anything decent.

Would consider 8K but bike should be immaculate or so - I've seen a good amount of 8K or lower CBR600RR during the winter times when I got my bike, in fact there is a $7500 CBR600RR on TM at the moment, but its not in Aucks and seller isn't reachable! :(

Theres one in P town with gravel rash on both sides for $7500.
Theres a 2005 with 110k in Auckland for $7500.

$7k seems a bit low. I couldn't find any for under $9k in this year range around 4 months ago when I was looking for a new bike.

$8k would still be pushing it. $8k+ is more likely, unless you find one with high mileage.

I suppose its also due to mainly how the '08-12 are some of the better looking and performing 600RR (I didnt like the new looks).

You guys reckon a budget of 9K is more reasonable?

not gonna go for the 2005 and 7K for 110K km? optimistic much?

And the gravel rashed bike probably would cost an additional 300 for shipping and probably 400 for the strator cover. Fairing can go with 500 Ebay aftermarkets. = $8700 total cost to bring to showroom condition.

I suppose its also due to.............................showroom condition.

Not suggesting you should buy them it just seems that under 8.5 wont get a nice one.
the market seems to be around 9 to get a lower km and good condition bike of that type and year.

There seems to be a point (price) at which nice late model sports bikes seem to hover at until they become older, have issues or high kms.
It seems to be 9 grand..
You could say the last 2 grand buys twice the bike.

You would want 07-08 model

09-12 has closed fairing on the sides
13+ has the different look.

Pretty much... they had the best looks and apparently with each passing model the power was lowered due to the "Emission" rules. Plus a lot of motovloggers use the 600RR '08 model (Cyclecruza and 6Foot4Honda comes to mind).

I guess its just a personal preference.

I prefer to deal with auckland bikes for logistical ease and for now I think I'll have to wait :|

Having owned 06, 08 and 12.

08 and 12 have bugger all difference. The supposed missing power can't be felt.

Also you can always put the more naked fairing into 09-12 model and you just need to replace 1 bracket.

Go with the 09-12; it has monoblock caliper on the front which makes a lot of difference.
If you don't like the bodywork, get some fairing from ebay/ China for 07-08 model and have a really nice looking bike.

Only concern for the 09-12 Model would be the extra fairing on the engine, and that would also mean cutting into the fairing if Installing a frame slider (which is the definitive first mod I'll ever get for it).

Then again it DOES look almost as similar to the 08-07 model...

...still looks sexy yes. But the price are still 10K+ considering its age.

Ah well you get what you pay for I guess...

Also the half broken 600RR was sold already.

The 09+ gen also have electronic steering dampers that come out of the tank which is quite nice, that's something that interested me a lot when I was looking for a supersport.

Just an opinion, and you might have already, but try to ride all four of the main Japanese bikes before you settle on a CBR. Out of all of them I found the CBR to be the most bland, personally.

Good luck with your search regardless.

I think the 07+ models have them too? (1 generation before the one that has engine cover on the fairings) If i am not mistaken. Only the 2005-2006 model doesnt have them I think... and yeah I would rather have a steering damper than a slipper clutch tbh.

and yeah I kinda expected the cbr to be a lot more tame, but I guess that's kind of what I want for the time being, and plus steering damper, engine reliability/smooth ride. Still I have not ridden any other 600CC super sports yet so I am pretty likely to change whatever I say from this point on especially once I have the chance to ride them.

I would like to try them all but I guess when it comes to japanese super sports I already have a set bias for either yamaha or Honda only.

Kawasaki: I dunno why but I dont like their styling in general, no character as everyone has one/most common bike people use (especially Ninjas), and for some reason I find Kawis to be uncomfortably and HEAVIER than most bikes I tried on. I was totally turned off everytime i sat on one by its weight... maybe i'm wrong and haven't ridden a ninja yet but most people say they are somewhat heavier for their classes.

Suzuki: I dont really like the mono/single eyed headlamps (including my '12 CBR250R - the only part of the bike I wish was better cosmetic wise) and again, a very commonly owned bike and heard electrical issues with the Gixxer is quite common. However reviews did state the gixxer was the best of the class in 2012 600cc shootouts. Are their build qualities good? I heard the gixxers have electrical issues?

EDIT: I Have sat on a GSXR 600 today at a dealer and they are SUPER COMFY! ME LIKEY! - They are going to my list too.

Of course, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong though - this is just coming from testimonials and research over the internet.

Still waiting for that one bike. :)

Thanks guys!

The HESD (Honda Electronic Steering Damper) comes from 07 onwards.

With the frame slider, even if you get the 07-08 I would still highly suggest you get a cut slider; they are more robust than the non-cut.
Search around the web about the extra damage non-cut slider have caused. It doesn't mean that it will happen but it may happen.

The annoying thing about the extra fairing of the 09+ is you have to take off the bottom right side to add oil.
