You don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night

Roxanne
You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets of money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

My wife heard a new and seemingly long version of 'Funkytown'. Does anyone know who does this version?
The only versions I know are the original highly Techno version by Lipps Inc. and the more rock electric guitar version by Pseudo Echo.

And in answer to the original question: nothing as I'm at work and we can't agree on music, but I have been whistling the "World of My Imagination" song from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" most of the day. (No green bling to be given to anyone who guesses what movie my kids have been hammering for the last 5 days - too simple a task)

That's the new Tim Burton one with Johhny Depp, not out on DVD (legally, anyway and I am of an abstemious, law-abiding nature) They've been watching the older one with Gene Wilder and his singing Oompah-Loompahs. Incessantly. Three-year-old didn't even bother waking me this morning, just ejected Spiderman 2, put the Willy Wonka DVD in the machine and put it on.

Did I mention "incessantly"?

Blood For Blood - "Wasted Youth Crew (My Kind Belong Nowhere)"

Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck society to
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck the world because
my kind, my kind, my kind belong nowhere
My kind, my kind, my kind are hated and feared
We all started as someone with a chance to make our way
Sometimes the world was cold but we waited for the better days
We watched the years go by and nothing seemed to change
We waited, hoped and prayed as the hard times felt like stinging rain
Well now that hope is gone, somewhere it turned to rage
Hatred, violence, booze and crime,
sometimes it seemed the only way (to get by)
I always knew I'd never make it cause I'm twisted in the brain
But I swear to you all right now that I'll never live like the ones that made me hate
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck society to
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck the world because
my kind, my kind, my kind belong nowhere
My kind, my kind, my kind are hated and feared
I know I'm going nowhere and I been on a losin' streak
and a scumbag, zero and anti-hero are all you think of me (and you're right)
I know I'm going nowhere and I been on a losin streak
and lowlife, loser and dead-end cruiser are all you think of me (but I say)
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck society to
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck the world because
my kind, my kind, my kind belong nowhere
My kind, my kind, my kind are hated and feared
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck mankind
My kind, my kind, my kind are hated and feared
Wasted youth, I never had all the chances
Wasted youth, I never had no savin' grace
Wasted youth, yeah I've made a few mistakes
Wasted youth, but how long will I have to pay?
So, some of you were born into happiness and wealth
While some of us were born to a life of hell
And some of us were lost and some of us were found
but most of us were beaten by life to the ground
And maybe I'll never see the day that I win
but I'll always have time for a beer with my friends
We'll fight everybody and the world 'till the end
and if you fuck around with us you'll get your head kicked in!
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck society to
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck the world because
my kind, my kind, my kind belong nowhere
My kind, my kind, my kind are hated and feared

He was a hard-headed man
He was brutally handsome, and she was terminally pretty
She held him up, and he held her for ransom in the heart of the cold, cold city
He had a nasty reputation as a cruel dude
They said he was ruthless, they said he was crude
They had one thing in common, they were good in bed
She'd say, "Faster, faster. The lights are turnin' red."
Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind, mm
Are you with me so far?

Eager for action and hot for the game
The coming attraction, the drop of a name
They knew all the right people, they took all the right pills
They threw outrageous parties, they paid heavenly bills
There were lines on the mirror, lines on her face
She pretended not to notice, she was caught up in the race
Out every evening, until it was light
He was too tired to make it, she was too tired to fight about it

Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane, everything all the time
Life in the fast lane, uh huh
Blowin' and burnin', blinded by thirst
They didn't see the stop sign,
took a turn for the worse

She said, "Listen, baby. You can hear the engine ring.
We've been up and down this highway; haven't seen a goddam thing."
He said, "Call the doctor. I think I'm gonna crash."
"The doctor say he's comin', but you gotta pay him cash."
They went rushin' down that freeway,
messed around and got lost
They didn't care they were just dyin' to get off
And it was life in the fast lane

My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down - The Ramones
You've got to pick up the pieces
C'mon, sort your trash
You better pull yourself back together
Maybe you've got too much cash
Better call, call the law
When you gonna turn yourself in? Yeah
You're a politician
Don't become one of Hitler's children

Bonzo goes to bitburg then goes out for a cup of tea
As I watched it on TV somehow it really bothered me
Drank in all the bars in town for an extended foreign policy
Pick up the pieces

My brain is hanging upside down
I need something to slow me down

Shouldn't wish you happiness, wish her the very best
Fifty thousand dollar dress
Shaking hands with your highness
See through you like cellophane
You watch the world complain, but you do it anyway
Who am I, am I to say

Bonzo goes to bitburg then goes out for a cup of tea
As I watched it on TV somehow it really bothered me
Drank in all the bars in town for an extended foreign policy
Pick up the pieces

My brain is hanging upside down
I need something to slow me down

If there's one thing that makes me sick
It's when someone tries to hide behind politics
I wish that time could go by fast
Somehow they manage to make it last

My brain is hanging upside down
I need something to slow me down

World So Cold - Mudvayne
When passion's lost and all the trust is gone,
Way too far, for way too long
Children crying, cast out and neglected,
Only in a world so cold, only in a world
This cold
Hold the hand of your best friend, look into their eyes
Then watch them drift away
Some might say, we've done the wrong things,
For way too long, for way too long

Fever inside the storm,
So I'm turning away.
Away from the name
(Calling your names)
Away from the stones
(Throw sticks and stones)
'Cause I'm through mending the wounds of us

Keep your thorns
'Cause I'm running away,
Away from the games
(Fucking head games)
Away from the space
(Hate this head space)
The circumstances of a world so cold

burning whispers, Remind me of the days,
I was left alone, in a world this cold
Guilty of the same things, provoked by
The cause,
I've left alone, in a world so cold
Fever inside the storm,
So I'm turning away.
Away from the name
(Calling your names)
Away from the stones
(Throw sticks and stones)
'Cause I'm through mending the wounds of us

Keep your thorns
'Cause I'm running away,
Away from the games
(Fucking head games)
Away from the space
(Hate this head space)
The circumstances of a world so cold

I'm flying, I'm flying away,
Away from the names
(Calling your names)
Away from the games
(Fucking head games)
The circumstances of a world so cold

Why does everyone feel like my enemy,
Don't want any part of depression or
Darkness, I've had enough
sick and tired, bring the sun, or I'm gone,
Or I'm gone

I'm backing out, I'm no pawn,
No mother-fucking slave to this,
Never lied
Never left
Never lived
Never loved
Never lost
Never hurt
Never worry about being me, or anyone else
Not a care, no concern, don't give a shit about
Anything

Backing out, giving up, no mother-fucking
Slave to this,
Never lied
Never left
Never lived
Never loved
Never lost
Never hurt
Never worry about being me, or anyone else
Not a care, no concern, don't give a shit about
Anything

I need to find a darkened corner,
A lightless corner,
Where it's safer and calmer,

I'm turning away.
Away from the name
(Calling your names)
Away from the stones
(Throw sticks and stones)
'Cause I'm through mending the wounds of us

I'm running away,
Away from the games
(Fucking head games)
Away from the space
(Hate this head space)
The circumstances of a world so cold

I'm flying, I'm flying away,
Away from the names

Away from the games

Oh they're quite OK with going to sleep with anything from easy listening to Punk. "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" is just their constant request. Other "lullabies" include "Patrick McGinty's Goat" and "Delaney's Donkey" - neither of which are slow and "soothing" and we often have some species of "rock" playing at night.

For years I thought it was "Dirty deeds and the Dunder Chief":dodge:

Isn't it "Dirty deeds and they're done with Sheep" - or is that a different song? :devil2:

(PT, I know they're different songs)

Elton John - Nikita (an all time fav of mine)
Joshua Kadison - Walking in Memphis
Eagles - Please come home for Christmas
Moving Pictures - What about me (another all time fav)

Turns out I'm actually a romantic that enjoys blues and likes to fight for the underdog...

LOL - I'm in Oz at the mo and there were the usual range of sheep jokes flying after a Texan I'm travelling with told everyone about the lamb bangers and mash he had the other night.

There was fierce debate about where the lamb bangers would have come from... and what their names were...

I may save that one for a future signature. In case nobody has noticed, I have a particular fascination with misheard lyrics. Pat Benatar should never have hit me with her pet shark...

In the "...done with sheep" case, it's a parody by Weird Al Yankovic.

Appropriate for this forum would be:

You're the one that I want [get on your motorbike] Woo hoo hoo - Grease Soundtrack

And not so appropriate but bloody funny:

Save the whales, save the whales, save the whales - "Orinoco Flow" by Enya

Both of the above courtesy of my niece, Karen, whom I suspect has never actually listened to a song in her entire life...

BTW: I wasn't quite quick enough to respond to one of your previous sigs "I can see Deirdre now Lorraine has gone - Johnny Nash"

I was going to quote it and respond with "I guess Lorraine's down in Africa - Toto" but you changed the bloody thing too quickly.

I know that the song features a stutter because it was written by the singers brother who stutters. He demo'd it to band. Thgey decided it sounded like crap without stutter so kept it! Is that worth green rep?
