I thought I would start a thread for any mods i do to the SV.
There is no time limit to stick to and no real plan at the end of the day. It is more just a log for the things that i do and maybe a place i ask for advice.
The first mod that i have documented is a Custom Tail tidy for the SV.
With a nice long weekend it gave me the chance to not be rushing round with a million tasks for a day and take the time to pull the bike to bits.
I started by removing the old Tail
(Photo once all removed and rear back on to look at options)

From here i came up with an ides and made a template. First on car then 0.9mm Aluminium then re drew the design in cad.

Next was to do a final version in cad with my brothers assistance. We included Tabs to be folded for the licence plate light and the indicators. This first version re uses the stock light and stock indicators.

Then it was time to cut it out on the CNC. I had a bit of 4mm plate so that's what we used. It is definitely overkill for the job. The thickness of the material also lead to issues with bending. We had to end up milling in relief grooves to allow us to bend the tabs. The next version will be done out of either 2mm or 3mm sheet.

Wile the tail tidy was being milled i looked into how to cover the additional holes that would be left from the removal of the old tail.
I ended up tracing the gap then cutting some over sized cover plates out of some black fiberglass sheet that was lying around and double sided taped them to the under tray (not the body work). The double sided tape i had was white and a few mm thick. This wasn't ideal and will be changed when a new tail tidy goes on.

After it was bent the tail tidy was given a quick spray of black to just cover the edges and tidy it up a bit. the next version will get powder coated.

Then it was mounted to the bike.
