View Full Version : Bolt vs Streetfighter

Ive just sold my bike on.

torn apart between these two bikes. Completely different end of scale I know.

I've had several cruisers and sports bikes before and Im happy to adapt to riding style of whichever bike I end up with.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u640/MrJesseHLee/10409673_10152841574756663_3939304648911273807_n_z ps2d675685.jpg

which one would you go for and why?

further to this, I'm interested to know which is considered to have more "cool factor?"

Thanks guys for the comments in advance.

Cool factor depends on lots of things, if you're 120kg bearded and tattooed up, the bolt would look cooler with you, if you're a balding, clean looking, middle aged man, the street fighter would be cooler.

What gives you a boner? I know what gives me a boner from those 2 bikes

I'm 31, non-bearded, slightly balding, clean look, and tattooed man and both bikes gives me a boner. Seriously..

You sound like a stereotypical ducati man. Buy a branded leather jacket, branded coffee mug and jump on your ducati

And because of my username, possibly.

Comes down to beige but pretty, or ugly but neat imo.

Then again, those two wouldn't make it to my shortlist to begin with so it's probably your taste that matters...

The fact you asked people's opinions makes me think to some extent you care about other peoples opinions, so given that, problem with the Bolt is that a lot of people (including none motorcycling types) will just think you can't afford a Harley. The streetfighter I reckon would be way more fun.
since you like twins why not get a Griso and there will no doubt about what's cool :)

If you don't mind exorbitant service costs, and like wearing branded gear, wear Armani etc, the Duke every time....Bolt is pretending to be something it's not. (It's reliable, well engineered, stops, goes) If you want vibration, poor brakes, dubious handling, high noise, low power. Know a plastic surgeon so you can remove last years HD tattoo for the newest one, and wear branded EVERYTHING then you'll need a Harley, get one.:

So why is a Harley looking clone on your list of two bikes? Subconsciously you must think they are cool even though you daren't admit it. As you are after "the cool" factor then there's your answer.

Just add tassles.

Yup, I sure have, Thats why I had a Guzzi California in the 90's (btw voted the BEST HD by several US bike mag's at the time) and I ride a non mainstream bike.

Funny thing is, I didnt see ONE HD on the 1000 miler, and when it pisses down with rain? Nope, I see Jap, European, but no HD's on the Hutt Valley motorway.

Seeing as the HD 'real bike' boys refer to the Sporty as a 'skirtster'.. it Hardly (there I go again) fits into the 'Hell's Office Wallah' Clone mentality.
I have openly admitted the XR1200 was/is the ONLY HD I'd have entertained owning... It was the one bike (IMO) where HD overall got 'it right' .

Why would I be embarrassed about my bike?
My details say what it is, an Empty One (MT-01) and THAT isnt a mainstream bike by any description!

Questionable taste and 'one eyed'??

Hmmm lemme see, I've owned James, Triumph x3, Honda (yes I admit it), Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW (old boxer), Moto Guzzi x2. Quite a few of which were purchased new. I've had opportunity to ride HD's since the AMF 1970's bikes, the Evo's when they first came out. In fact the only HD's I havent ridden are a Vrod and the new 'twin cam' big block.....

Not a case of being 'one eyed', It's simply cost Vs performance (engine, chassis, brakes, suspension, reliability) HD do a fantastic job of selling an 'under engineered' product, then dupe the buyers to spend thousand's on 'personalising' their bikes (Screaming Eagle etc) to bring them up to what they should be from the factory. As the video on the HD 'death wobble' show's, there is an inherent 'weakness' in the design, but unlike other manufacturer's who will modify or change the bike, HD just keep on churning it out the door.

If I was so 'one eyed' as you put it, I would never have admitted I liked the XR1200 Sporty's.

My comment on the AB's wasnt about 'losing to the Pom's' It's like a National day of Mourning ANYTIME they lose, plus the obligatory 3-6 months of game, team, coaching staff dissection.

how can a moto guzzi be voted best harley davidson?????

Because the Cali is a cruiser, and it out Harley'd the HD's of the day.... out grunted, out accelerated, out braked, out cornered, better ergo's, better comfort, better motor.................... etc, etc.

So several mag's voted it the 'best HD'.

One UK mag did a joint road test of a Cali and a CB1000(F)? in real world performance they put the Cali was as 'quick' as the CB, the V twin stomp overtaking, gave it a hell of an 'edge'.
