Hi new to the forum looking for some help.

I recently put my bike in storage for a month was running primo when parked up. only done 27569 km

Now i have puled it out of storage and noticed a slight knocking noise coming from the engine.

I've just changed the oil, sparks fresh 91 fuel. Always warmed up before rids never dropped her.

The knocking only happens as per below.

1st gear - starts at around 3000 revs till 6000 revs
2nd gear - Starts 3000 - 600 rpm
3rd gear - starts at 3000 rpm till 4000 rpm then dissapers
4th gear - no knocking
5th gear - no knocking
Idle - no knocking

The knocking seams to speed up with the revs then dissapers over 6000 rpm in 1st and 2nd. It dissapears when the clutch is pulled in. It seams to knock waits 1 sec knock wait 1 sec and speeds up as per revs.

I cant pin point were its coming from as its only happens when riding. With the rear wheel up on the stand cycleing threw gears it dosent knock

Theere is no loss in power and still rids great just concerned what the knocking is as its never done that before. luckly its my weekend toy so it can sit untill sorted :)

Any help would be good

Is your clutch action still smooth and consistent?

It might pay to check valve clearances and cam chain tensioners.

I would bet on cam chain tensioners.

Checked for a tight link in your drive chain?

Cam chain tensioners are good and drive chain has no tight spots . Any other ideas?

It dissapears when the clutch is pulled in.

My money is on the chain being the problem.

The stress comes off the chain when the clutch is in ... either a sticking link or the chain is slack.

Yeah re-check the chain and the front sprocket is actually torqued up.
How did you check the cam chain tensioners?
Valve clearance will just be little rattle, audible at all revs.
Get yer spanners out and check everything is tight

Buy a crashed one and do an engine swap, probably easier than a rebuild
