I took a zxr250 for a spin today.

and guess what .....

doing 100 uphill, leaning slightly right. the hill drops, but the corner keeps going around to the right.

I stood the bike up as much as poss. and plowed on the picks. I reckon I dropped the speed to about 70, then hit the gravel on the side of the road.

Pics attached.

Rang insurance company, and they said "so sorry but you're not covered"

I guess I'm buying the bike .....
its a 91 zxr250, with 80,000kms on the clock. The engine was replaced 200kms ago, and was in average condition before I took it out, it now is in less than average condition :(

it's probably not worth claiming anyway, cos the excess is probably not much less than what it'll cost to repair..

thank fuck for new leathers.

Had denim on the legs, and a couple of grazes, nothin at all really. Done more damage to myself on a pushbike.

Might have sprained my left thumb, coz its a wee bit sore.

However ..... my ego/pride/wallet/etc etc really hurts

Glad to hear you're ok though. Platic can be fixed, and lessons can be learnt.

I'm thinking reapir the indicator/and air intakes, and forget about the fairings until sale time.

I guess I need to call somebody to find out how much :(

get your arse to the back of the seat, roll on about 30kph in first, accelerate hard, just as you start to accelerate, hold the clutch in for a fraction of a second so the revs shoot up, then dump the clutch.. see what happens with that

I'm paying $3k (plus repairs I guess) ... its was a reasonable buy before I dumped it I think.
I've test ridden a few bikes (about 7) and I thought this felt ok, seemed to feel ok, no signs of any rust or anything around the forks, and the brakes looked good.

He's put a new 6 month reg, and warrant on, and slapped brand new tyres on it (they still have the knobbs on them)

so apart from spending a bit to get the indicator re-attached, it is still a good buy (I hope)

in theory, anything can be wheelied.. it'll depend on how strong the bike is running, and how good the clutch is.. but doesn't stop you tryin..

You can do a raw power one if you load up the forks and time the rebound well enough, or do those sneaky ones where you swerve max each side then grab a hand full and tug you can get it up _okish_ still only way to do it properly is abit of clutching after awhile you find you dont need much clutch but yea. kittens.

Y'need to sorta throw your weight backwards and pull up on the bars as you drop the clutch. Sort of like you're actually trying to pull the front off the road.Prolly harder on a sprotbike cos y'can't actually get your weight far back

But why bother? Doesn't make y'go any faster, just loses time. And is hard on clutch primary chain etc.

Don't bother man.... because you have a high chance of crashing something like that again... get it done when you resell it on etc. If it is only one side just get decals re-done if your paintjob is fine as it is. Or you end up loosing about 1k on some bikes when they get the average full/cheap one color respray.
