Standard thing if quoting multiple sources is to copy and paste the desired bits and use the "Wrap [ QUOTE] tags arround selected text" tool (speech ballon icon) then put "=username" inside the [ QUOTE] at the beginning.

At least, that's what I do as I've not found a simpler method of quoting multiple people.

I also add tags ([B] or [color=]) in quoted text to highlight things.

Never occured to me to make up shit, though. Guess I'm too nice. Is there an "Innocent Nice Guy" Flame Warrior category? :devil2:

Shit, must give it a go:

Wow man, that Wolf is one hoopy frood. I wanna be like him Waddyaknow, the username doesn't even have to exist...

Of course it doesn't have to. The tags simply tell the program how to interpret the text, just like html for browsers.

No checking is done.

Regards this thread... is it only people with no life (ie. techy geeks) that already knew this??

Like I was watching 60 minutes and that spy program was on. A girlfriend got the boyfriend to install it on his PC by sending it in an email... I would never ever just blindly install software... :wait:

Can't speak for the others that already knew this but I'm a techy geek with no life... (Aside from my wife and kids, motorcycles, friends, camping, music, movies, archery, hunting, horse riding, reading, writing, this forum...)

ummm from that fairly extensive description I'm a thinking that perhaps you are not one...

Membership is fairly exclusive after all, and it takes years of dedication and self-reflection to gain geek status.

Copy, paste, type [QUOTE and closing square bracket at begining and \QUOTE ditto at end.

Does 24 years - including everything from programming through network admin, cabling, hardware repairs/maintenance and Hell Desk and spanning PC-DOS and CP/M to Windows XP - count?

And if you read esr's brilliant "Portrait of J Random Hacker" you'll see that mainstream geeks are reknowned for having an extensive variety of "other interests" - they're just living lives that do not revolve around "stuffing your face with Frittos or Twinkies and slurping beer whilst watching ('merkin) football on pay-per-view and jerking off over the cheerleaders" so they don't count as "real lives" :devil2:

Get enough typing when I program, I'm lazy enough to select the text and hit "Wrap in quote codes" when I can - I did say "simpler method" :devil2:

There are times when it is "simpler" to stay on the keyboard and use a shortcut key rather than move my tired arm over to wherever I left the mousey thing and pilot it around the screen, other times when it's "simpler" to do a couple of mouse clicks than type an "essay" - I've become pretty adept at using the most expedient means over the years - even if it means resorting to the mousey thing occasionally.

Also once meant custom writing two reports in Access and using "Print to file" to create two editable files which I could marry and edit in Word to create a "reasonable facsimile" of a .GED file for a genealogy program so I could import it - because manually copying the data from the ancient database program it was in (any other Antediluvians here remember "PFS First Choice"?) was too bloody labour-intensive. I spent two "All-nighters" importing, reporting, editing, manipulating and checking the data to enable me to import over three thousand records at once (compared with the two days of typing it had taken to manually enter 125 records) To clarify: one all-nighter to export a csv file from First Choice, import to Access, generate and edit the files and import the resultant "GED" file into the genealogy program followed by a second all-nighter to manually marry the imported data to the records I had already entered (Yeah, OK, Ixion, it would have been "simpler" to have imported the whole lot into a fresh database but I was buggered I was going to render the work I had already done "obsolete" :devil2: )

I am offically glad I dont use that any more, although I have to try write a C++ wrapper that will interact with a remote run PHP wrapper to CHANGE the frontend of the PHP wrapper and also supply full interactivity with the PHP content WITH security - going to be... fun fun fun...
