And yet the culprits escape. As do the cowshit smotherers. Compare the criminal outcome of these activities with that afforded to crossing a double-yellow line on the Hill. Also reflect on which is the most dangerous.

The cops could cure most of these "mishaps" by following every truck and trailer unit that drives over the hill and prosecuting the bejeezus out of any that offend. They'd only have to do it for a couple of weeks for word to get around.

I dunno how it could be resolved but given the cost to clean it up and the threats it poses you would think something can be sorted.

Sigh...

Awwww Maaaaan!

I hate that shit! There was a big oil spill up there last weekend. It looked like a car had ruptured its sump.

Why are there so many diesel spills? Is it a function of the miles covered by trucks, is it lack of maintenance, stupidity? Most truck drivers I encounter up on that road are pretty considerate so I am not really ragging on them but I am curious as to why there are so many spills?

"and both lanes had been covered"

So they knew full well they were leaking and were cutting corners to minimise fuel loss?

Or what? 'Cause it seems to be a common feature of diesel spills on the hill.

And all we hear from the trucking industry is moan, moan about the high cost of fuel. Yet they seem hell bent on dumping it all over the place like it's free?

I know this was 'some' years ago, but my old man was a long distance trucker 60's/70's.

Diesel spills were usually either, overfilling the tank (overflow vent) a badly sealing filler cap, NO bloody cap and at best a rag stuffed into its place.

If they could negate spills back then? By simple maintenance and/or filling correctly.. in this day and age? No bloody excuse.

The roundabout at seaview can often be a skating arena as well.

So anyone been up over the hill this weekend?
Wondering if it is still a little dodgy for a fun ride up there tomorrow?

Cheers (no pun intended) Glad I decided to go fishing again... Not that I caught anything... Unless seaweed counts?
