Hey there peeps!

If someone does a complete head rebuild, with new valves, piston/cylinder clean...

1. Does this make the motorbike close to brand new?
2. How much life will a bike have in it after all this work?

Cheers

Only if its a 2015 model that's never been started before.

So what is the use of a rebuild and similar work?

Indicates if its not a new bike with a top end rebuild then its not like new.

No it's not a new bike.

How long will it last? Depends how well the work was done, if anything not touched fails in the future bla bla bla

May go for 150,000 kms ......... may not.

What's the engine? If it's one of those highly strung off roaders it may be measured in hours?

An old engine with a new top end is like a new engine with a old bottom end.

Like a old lady with fake tits?

Exactly. The bottom end is worn out but some of the top end has been restored.

1) no, it makes the complete head close to brand new.
b) depends, if it's a honda, you're a fag. if it's a harley, noone cares anyway. a bmw, doesn't matter you voided the warranty. anything else, ahh fuck it.
and fuck you. aucklander.

Did a top-end rebuild on my 89 ZXR750...did another 40thou kms roughly by the time I sold it
had it crack tested, milled 2thou off the face, replaced valves, guides, & springs cleaned up intake ports and mated manifolds to them so there weren't any steps or lips in the intakes & fitted a bank of ZZR11 carbs and did a few other wee bits n pieces. Bottom end wasn't touched.
It never got any easy treatment and went strong and after spying it the background of TM auction late last year suggests its still going

Freshened the top end of an old TR1 ( aka a coal burning monster) a few years back, honed the bores, replaced the chrome topped piston rings with nice shiny subaru ones, powder coated the barrels, replaced one valve guide, reseated all ( 4) of the valves, gave her a de coke, fitted a nice new chain, old one had done the original 117000 K's and still wasn't entirely knackered.
Bolted the old carbs back on, untouched.
Fired her up and have run her ever since, that was ten years ago.
Still going and going strong today.
So it can be done.

Nothing wrong with doing it - your question was will it be 'new'.

Thanks guys I think I have a fair idea of what a rebuild does. ;)

Considering what happens when I fart, I'm feeling sick just thinking about a hyper-advanced alien Epicfart and what its hang time would do.:sick::sick:

And in the confines of a spaceship...

What do you reckon? if found out you were going on the moon lander mission in the tiny capsule that had no where anyone could even fully extend... would you eat lots of cabbage or baked beans?

See, this is why I love KB, a thread starts out about engine rebuilding and ends up being about farting in spaceships.:laugh::laugh::rockon:

Beans and apples galore. More the merrier. But not the cabbage. I'm neither cruel nor masochistic.

Not uncommon to find when you cure a power issue in particular that the next weakest link fails next.

I traded a bike that the dealer did a lot of top end work on to get back to running smooth. Result? Tranny went bang within 300k.

If the fart was in zero gravity then surely it would remain around until every last piece had been breathed in? Free floating microscopic poo particles?

If you fart in space will anyone hear it?

Best to record your fart and send the recording out over a FM bandwave - that way it may well travel in space for millions of years and eventually be heard by aliens.

I hate to poo on your parade, but they used to recycle the air through carbon filters.

Start off with close to 100% oxygen and keep just recycling it with additions of fresh oxygen. Minimal tank supply yadda yadda.

Imagine the Dutch oven though if you accidentally let one go while in the suit with the helmet on and all?

Have the valves in the suit been reseated? How about new gaskets??

But then, that won't fix the bottom end issues ..

Definitely in need of a filter change.
