Hey,
Just an intro to say g-day and ask a few questions about been a biker in NZ
I'm an expat POME and I lived in NZ in the mid 90's in ChCh when I was a teenager then moved over to OZ 15 years ago.
My partner is a Kiwi I met in Brisbane and we have decided to move back to NZ around Nelson area next year. We cant wait :wings: and I cant wait to ride my bike around NZ
I currently ride a KTM 1290 which I'm thinking about bringing it over or selling it and buying a sports bike which I have always wanted.
I couldn't ride a super sport in Queensland due to the shite roads and rattling your brain loose.
Cheers
Paul

Hey mate - welcome!
Bring the Superduke! New Zealand needs more superdukes, and then we'll have more here when I want to buy one second-hand in a couple of years. :)
Lucky you - you are in for some good riding down there, and after the Queensland cops you're going to think it's practically anarchy here. Will likely be a touch wetter though.
It's not all plain selling to import a bike though, and there are a few threads on here that are testament to that. Even coming from Oz, there's a lot of potential additional charges and cleaning costs.

Thanks for the warm welcome
I will have to sus out the import and give it a try.
I have noticed with google and NZ motorcycle trader that brands like yamaha are priced similar and other brands like BMW and Ducati are a lot more expensive from the dealers.
Im looking forward to the weather and daylight savings :) when it rains I will hang with the family then when the sun is out :scooter:

It's OK for the Aussies ... they don't have a brain to rattle loose ...
But welcome to the site.

So you are going to sell a 1290 to buy a sprot bike? So is the 1290 not sprotty enough then?

The 1290 is a great bike but lusting after a sport bike with quick shifter, fairing etc
I feel like a wind sock on the 1290 and Im always leaning over the tank when having a play.

Hey,
I'm wondering whats its like to live with a sports bike like R1, s1000rr in NZ (south island) with road conditions and how grippy the tarmac is and how bumby are the roads to have some fun in the corners?
I'm thinking about selling the 1290 while the demand is strong and getting a s1000rr
