Picked up the worlds most hated motorbike today, the famous Gn250.
For free though. So theres that.
Needs a few tweaks here and there.
Fork seals blah blah blah.
But it doesn't start with the button.
And when the start buttons pushed it makes a whizzing/spinning sound which sounds like the starter motor?
Pushed it down the road in 2nd and tried 3 times and it fired. Ran for about 2 secs but didn't want to be revved.
Now I know the battery isn't charged, unknown on the condition though.
Not too sure on where to start but have read it could be CDI, voltage rectifier or the dreaded keyway has sheared off something in somewhere.
Keen to rip into it so will probably be in bits before people reply Hahah.
Since it isn't a Vw golf I don't know whats wrong with it . Hahah.
Any one had these symptoms?
Cheers in advance.

Ducatilover has approximately 173 of these bikes in bits somewhere and can no doubt help out with the specifics of your starter shittyness (might be the sprag clutch, unless it is a buzzing in which case battery or solenoid or wiring). But if it starts on a push start but doesn't keep going, I'd be looking at fueling...

Sweet as, will start hunting for issues tonight. Does have a slight petrol leak but now thinking about it it may not have any fuel in it HA.
But for a box of double browns as payment i cant expect an absolute minter.

They gave you double browns to take it away? That's a bit rough.

Purple lines indicate damage FFS
Blue is where the bolt head and bits have come from. Some scary looking damage behind there.

Blue lines in this one showing the copper wire damaged from the steel bits stuck to the magnet have caused.

Bolts seem to have come loose or snapped?
Damage isn't too bad.
Nothing i can't fix or replace i think.

Even with a fucked stator like that I would expect it to fire with a good battery in there.
Still pretty fucking  though, I guess I'm saying don't spend more than a can or two on fixing that mess unless you're sure it'll fire afterwards...

Start by jump starting it from a good battery ...
Bump starting with a dud battery wont work well ... especially if the charging system is buggered ... (it wont help)

Before stripping all of that i got it fired but wouldn't stay running. Did it a few times but with the same outcome. Earths and power leads are mint.
Not wanting to spend more than $700 to get it running cause they aren't worth that much hahah
