Yup, $300 self imposed tax payable to uncle helen.
Mates dad got the speed camera ticket in the mail today (i was on his bike) , cold kiwi weekend in ouakuni. Bugger.
Alleged 82km in 50km zone. Was feeling stink then heard one of the others in our group got a $500 from same camera at same time, he was doin 92km. There were two others in the group eagerly awaiting tomorows mail. Guess labour did ok outa us!

No hard feelings really, its the risk we all take when zooming round the country at intergalactic speeds. Speed cameras are a pain though, you cant see them, the radar dosnt pick them up either. Oh well, at least there are no de-merits attached or i would be walking for the next 6mnths. :oi-grr:

That wouldnt have been on Goldfinch Street between Shannon Street and Ayr Street. A particulalry dangerous stretch of of road heading towards the ski field in Ohakune do you know how many deaths they've had in recent years (numerous possums and are rare native snail) Get a hardley the tickets are cheaper 71k in 50 area = $170 and all the snails you can crush. If you can catch them of course.

(Cheap fast and reliable pick any two) :motu: :motu: Doc

Yup, silly boy. National park-Ohakune-Waioru is patrolled heavily. Often there is a green van parked at Waioru end of ohakune, just after the bridge by the carrot. Also be carefull from just north of tamuaranui through to just south of owhango. Thats stretch is a cop breeding ground on friday nights.

All that bit down by the ski fields has been notorious for 30 years at least.

I have family in that area and stay in the plateu heaps. Aucklanders on holiday, few hours drive each way, getting exhausted and drinking a bunch (driving with hang-overs) works until that bit of shade on a hot morning happens to be ice.

Well, the idea is to register your bike in your wifes name - that way SHE gets the ticket when 'our' Sporty gets pinged, cunning eh? :msn-wink:

And a bit of 'inside' knowledge doesn't do any harm either!

Surely a man in your esteemed position wouldn't play the system?
Fall on your sword, mercy of the courts and all that.
Where's Lou when we need him?

Don't register your vehicles in the pets names though. 'They' seem less than amused by that.

to be honest, I dont really mind speed camera fines (although the hidden ones irk me somewhat).... its just a velocity tax, pay as you go, as all good taxes should be.

what pisses me off is "demerit" points. If I went that fast and LIVED, I should get "merit" points...

bad luck though dude, its a bunch of money you could otherwise have spent on beer or CB400 parts.

80+ in a 50 zone? OMG - you nutter. I feel for the innocent snails.

So how come the radar detector didn't pic up the camera? My V1 does. Not necessarily the hugest warning you'll ever get (particularly in a rural environment), but a bit like laser - at least it tells you you've got a ticket.

.

Was a fixed camera. Like, on a pole. Your V1 will not pick that up. My X50 picks up the vans like your V1 but you got to brake hard. Can be done.
