Suzuki ax100 cutting out and jerking while riding

hello everyone

first time im posting on here, but have lurked for quite a while and alot of good info has been learnt, i usually hang out over at oldschool.co.nz, so a few of you might know me.

anyway, i have a suzuki ax100. and i have quite a strange problem, while riding (after about 2 minutes of perfect running) the bike starts to cut in and out asif you were flicking the key on and off, and this causes the bike to jerk back and forth untill you back right off.

ive cleaned and set the carb up and im confident its not a carb issue, i think it might be a coil problem but i havnt been able to find another coil to try since its a combined CDI coil system.

do any of you guys have any ideas what might be causing this, on the moments where things work properly, its a very well behaving bike, and pulls quite strong for a little commuter.

problem is identical with all 3 available plugs i have (2 new, one that came with it)

Battery charged? Try fresh fuel and try with the gas cap loosened in case the vents blocked

Fuel filter in the tank ... ???

its actualy got a honda CB50 tank on it. no in tank filter, but brand new inline filter as of a few days ago.

a bit more info perhaps. when i first start the bike it will run very well indeed. and after about half a km to a km of riding it will start to cut in and out. seems i can extend the time before the problem happens by riding alot softer, butit eventually happens. i can then pull over and let it idle for a bit, or turn it off for a bit, and then the cycle starts again, with it riding fine for a little bit then the issue comes back.

Remove the filter and try again.

Plug cap and HT lead.

tried no filter to no avail.

has brand new HT lead.
Fairly new plug cap, but could get another one if needed.

Ok so basics are done.

How's your electrical fault finding skills?

Do a point to point resistance check on the ignition circuit wiring. You are looking for high resistance that is causing the cct to fail.

Also check the ignition coil electrically......while you are at it check all plugs. Pushed back pins are a bugger.

Oo sorry, I forgot to update here.

I discovered the problem was with the carb rebuild kit I put in, the float needle seat was more shallow than the factory part, and threw the float height way out. Put factory piece back in and it ran smooth as can be
