That's a thumb and a blurry bit of metal.

That is commonly called a "blur".
You can get them anywhere by screwing your eyes up.

Looks like a screw jack to me:niceone:

Ask a local panelbeater, or I could send you some.

At first I thought it was drug related and I was going to suggest PM Akzle.

But I do believe you have it correct now.

Aww man there goes my self esteem. I spent heaps on mood lighting and a manicure for my thumb. The photo looked like it was ready for a national geographic article on my tiny screened phone sorry

Cheers for the info. Knowing wtf they were called was the hard part, and my guesses were no where near speed nut or screw jack.

Chur!

Oh and it's a bit late on a school night for speed :bleh: Might have figured out the name after a 4 hours worth of conversation done in 30 minutes with a crayon given a crack at it though. Next time.

Sheet metal captive nut. They sell them at http://www.autozone.com/ and most other reputable automotive supply places.

Had a quick nose in Super Cheap yesterday, $8 for 2... but they were the wrong size, which would have done in a pinch but tried Blacks Fasteners just in case and they had the size I wanted for a song (with wicked service as always).
