Traffic I slow as shit around the loop. I reckon traffic going clockwise would be a bit easier.

Very slow trip home from Auckland to Coromandel in the car this morning and it will only get worse. I'd steer clear for a couple of weeks to be honest. No plans to take the bike out for a couple of weeks unless it's a dawn run!

Fuck he was lucky the Commodore driver slowed up. Least he got a knee down.

Can't think of a worse time of year to do this ride.

Assuming you ever got out of Auckland, what was it like?

lol,got out of auckland and not that bad of a ride.sunshine for all but 15mins of the trip.good feed in pauanui and meet some nice new people.roads weren't packed but had the odd busy moment so all in all a success

oh did have one close moment when lead rider didn't spot the hidden gravel sign.was entering a 25 corner a bit quick and when he realized it was time to brake there was a big gravel patch.full rear lock up and off the corner but thankfully there was a driveway so avoided any damage.no driveway and it would have been a lot worse though

That was an impressive countersteer to the left around the car at the last stage, followed by another impressive knee down with hand pushing assistance to the right afterwards.

He just suddenly decided to give up on that particular corner for no apparent reason. Amateur.
Great hand paddling action though, pmsl, hopefully Marquez can incorporate it into his style for added entertainment.

L plate gave it away for me........Still cant figure out what his issue was that caused him to miss the corner entirely

I'm keen for a jaunt around the Coromandel over the break but not keen on the idea of holiday traffic and/or popo.

Any reports as to how frustrating it is/how many donuts you need to take with you?

I'm lining up the weekend of 31 Jan or 1 Feb to go. I'm guessing the roads may be a bit quieter the weekend before the kids go back to school. PM me if you are interested.

Three of us rode the loop today - 450km round trip with brekky in Coro, town, fill up in Whitianga, and drink stops in Tairua and Hunua. Cafe at the base of the mount at Tairua has good views so worth a short detour off the main road (see pic).

As expected with the kids now back to school there wasn't any traffic so we enjoyed an uninterrupted run all the way. 308515

Nice line up of bike's, a picture of pure beauty one could say. Good time to ride the loop and three is the safe group ride option. :niceone:
