Recently bought a 1995 900ss with an RT supplied and set up Nitron shock.

Got to say transforms the ol SS riding experience.:niceone:

A couple of months ago bought a 600ss off another mate who decided it was not a great learner bike for him, the bike was fun

to ride but oh...the suspension.....it was so harsh.

Could have upgraded the suspension but I have a basic understanding of overcapitalisation on old bikes

I liked the bike but could not live with the ride, then I rode the 900 with the Nitron.

I recently fitted one to the Street Triple. Enquired directly to Nitron and was surprised to find from them that Robert Taylor was the NZ agent. He had it built to my specs and received it from the UK about 3 weeks after ordering. Really nice quality components. Checked the static and loaded sag and only needed to add half a turn to the preload. Damping is pretty much spot on and haven't felt the need to adjust it as yet. Extremely impressed as bumps which jarred my teeth with the OEM unit are scarcely noticeable. The OEM unit had 60k on it and whilst it was pretty budget to start with, the Nitron unit also served to show how much the damping had declined in the old one - virtually non-existent in fact.

It's never over-capitalisation to upgrade suspension on a motorcycle. It is only in the last 12 months that suspension has started to get close to the rest of the performance capabilities of a most motorcycles and only because BMW has been pushing the price vs. capability ratio really hard with S1000R and S1000RR.

It's the one thing that will save you a fortune in tyre costs, reduce braking distances and improve rider comfort and your ability to ride further in a day. It's the first thing that should be either setup properly or replaced entirely on just about any bike. Setting up properly usually starts with getting springs right because the stock generic springs won't be right most people.

Doh, Just ordered an Ohlins rear for the GS off RT after tossing up between that and a Nitron from the UK.

Wonder if there is a lot of difference ?

Just waiting for my Nitron to arrive from RT for my FZ1. Meant to be a big improvement over stock.
