The speedway sidecars are having a demonstration/trial racing at western springs speedway tonight.

The track has been a lot smoother than in the past, and the promoters are fans of sidecars from way back.

I think we will be out fairly early in the night, maybe 2 or 3 races.

Raced there a couple times on the sidecar but track was always full of small pot holes and rough, I don't think we ever did more than two races before it got too rough for the bike,

What an absolute blast! The track couldn't have been better for the sidecars.

Before the first race, 8 sidecars lined up on the dummy grid, helmets on, 16 riders in nervous silence. No one knew what to expect of the track.

A bit of argy bargy with a packed field, the chair to our left pulled a big wheel stand, the bike to our right had an even bigger wheel stand. Our gate was pretty good, straight into second place. After a bit of a shunt, I ended up falling off the bike, still had a death grip on the handles, took a lap and a half to finally flick my foot back over the seat and climb back up, by this time the race had restarted.

The restart saw us pull the big wheel stand, we landed so hard I slingshot forwards fell into the chair, got back up, jumped onto the side, we were still a bit snakey, I was flicked off and tasted the clay.

There was overtaking, fast full throttle, rev limiter bouncing racing. Bill Buckley was impressed, he wants us back, the crowd reacted well. I think the sidecars will be back some time soon.
