My legs are way too short to even contemplate riding barefooted (not to mention yucky hot roads and sharp stony things to watch out for). It felt weird even riding in my rubber beach slip-ons in Raro. Maybe he's a distant relative of a hobbit, since they're supposed to have hardy, hairy feet?
(I won't even go near the Honda riding bare'back' line of thinking....)

Well have been riding long enough to remember when there were no safety regulations and it soon became clear - A) boots and B) gloves essential gear! :ride:

I wouldn't ride bare foot, not just safety, looking like a dick, hurting feet...... I doubt I'd get into second gear bare footed.

Try finding boots that'll set off a man bag like that better than bare feet ; don't think so.

Here in kamo, we see one of the local gang/p dealers riding around in jandals on his v rod with what looks like a 3-4yr old sitting in front of him wearing only shorts and a pushbike helmet. No footwear or shirt. Of course he is lanesplitting and going like fuck from the lights etc.

Used to be a rather portly guy in CHCH who always rode cruisers always in jandels and sleeveless tops. Always, regardless of the weather.
I have a strong position on this. Ditto not wearing gloves, jacket etc. In my world you'd be voiding your ACC cover by not taking reasonable steps to protect yourself. Same for persons in cars not wearing seatbelts.
Strong? Maybe, but I am really sick of paying for human stupidity

I can post a shed load of pictures of dead riders with all the gear on. And de-gloved feet that had proper motorcycle boots on if you want. Point is if you don't crash it does not matter what you wear, if you do crash then even all the gear might not save you from instant death or life in a wheelchair. Yes, it might reduce the odds of serious injury but the fact is if you crash on a bike it is probably going to hurt.
The best advice is don't crash. Or, for those who advocate ATGATT, why not go all the way and put a metal cage around you and perhaps a wheel in each corner to make you more stable?

Take that view to its natural conclusion and you would ban motorbikes surely? Back protectors, neck braces, air suits, where do you draw the line? What is reasonable to you is clearly not reasonable to the dude in the photo. Has he ever made an ACC claim? Have you? I don't see many crash reports involving idiots with no gloves or boots, most are wearing all the "reasonable" gear when they fuck up and get hurt.

I've ridden barefoot... Slowly, on a beach. I don't think I'd be comfortable in anything less than a pair of work boots when riding on the road, and even then my shins may feel vulnerable.
The recent hot weather has seen a significant increase in the number of the dudes on their hawgs, laid back with open-face lids, shades, jeans, t-shirt and a waistcoat. I can see the attraction, but I don't think it's for me.

Since when did Kamo get a traffic light?
I remember sitting in the pub up there once pissed as a chook watching the local drive though the flood waters over there bonnets. Funny as hell.
Sadly the local servo had contaminated fuel and we had to spend another day up there. :niceone:

My partner survived a crash due to AGATT. Blood loss from multiple compound fractures was life threatening. So if she had skin loss the paramedics would not have been able to keep up with the blood loss. So it changed her outcome from dead to alive.
AGATT may not save your life but it will help your chances.
The Burns unit which is where you will end up if you have a slide without gear on is the most expensive medical unit to stay in for general hospital long term visits. And it is where the most screaming is heard from.
Your choice.

Don't worry - that million plus he spent was well earned, after all he no doubt paid his rego fees year after year so why not cash in on it.
The hospitals should charge all those shits who get so drunk they need hospital care.
Fucking society. It's screwed up. You can't do this, you can't do that, look at someone sideways at work and you are in trouble bla bla. But ride barefoot or drink until you need hospitalization - don't worry we will pay for your treatment.

Man I'll have three - one orally and maybe stick two of them up my arse aye? After all if they get stuck there I can rely on the system to pay for their removal and my anal reconstruction (required as the second one is going up sideways!).
Side fact - if a woman is unfortunate enough to require lip reconstruction on her face (burns for example) they source the new skin from her pussy lips as it is of the same sensitive nature. Obviously they need to rotate the skin 90 degrees or she'll end up with a vertical smile and get called cuntlips all the time.

Big deal. When "drying the F-117" the only safety equipment is a pair of sunnies.
Plus shorts & T-shirt.

I remember as a kid going to the dairy for some bread in jandals, foot slipped of the pedal and got caught under the pedal. That ground the top of my foot real good.
Mum got pissed off because I bleed on the carpet.

Dude in Wanganui/Whanganui/Funganui rides a blackbird barefoot all the time. He's been doing it for years and odds are he'll never crash. If he does though...I think he'll regret his choice of footwear.

Theres another in Wanganui, well, just out of Wanganui nowadays, hard-tail Harley, giant apes, no helmet, no footwear, Holds her wide open at all times.Mad as fuck.

I cant see us getting a ACC rebate if he buys some shoes and wears them so im going to do nothing about this. My days of caring are over now. I earn X amount and the only thing that changes is the speed it gets used on Bill and Tax. Sometimes I wonder if Bill and Tax are the same person.

A rider comes through Te A on a regular basis. Rides a black Triumph America twin, loud pipes, matt black Nazi helmet, black face scarf, fingerless gloves (black). Somehow, the HiViz lime green vest over the black jacket just doesn't complete the image.:no:
