A good question to ask yourself in Mangakino would be where is the nearest dealer?
I can only imagine that most things could be handled by any competent mechanic. It's when things go pear shaped you might not want a 200km tow bill.

Same could be said for every time you take a day/week trip on your bike Matt.
Insurance with roadside assist attached helps, always had it, never needed it.
There's a Yamaha Dealership in Tokoroa, a Honda Dealership in Otorohanga.

We had some drug paraphernalia found at the Motel that I was going advertise on the Mango Buy/sell/swap, but thought better of it. The cops wanted the filter/I kept the extractor fan and the rest went into the skip.

Pity you've decided to bypass the Honda ST1300, I've ridden an ST1100 for the last 2 1/2 years over here in Oz and apart from my short legs I think it's a fantastic bike.
There's a nice 2009 low mileage (36,000 km) one in burgundy in Auckland for $13K. There's a blue 2005 with 77,000 km for just over $9K in Hamilton. The engines are brick outhouses and good for 250,000 km if you do regular maintenance (rec oil change 15,000 km, I change mine every 10,000 km. I've got 140,000 km on my 2000 ST1100), the bike is good for over 200 km/hr (well, from personal experience the ST1100 is) and you get well over 400 km on a tank at legal road speeds - they were designed as European tourers.
You're in a marvellous area for a sports tourer, all those lovely west Waikato roads.
I loved dropping down through the forest road (SH32 ?) from Kinleith to Whakamaru and then go down to Tihoi for a burger. Come back up the west of the river and cross the Karapiro dam and go home via Karapiro Rd and Taotaoroa Road across to SH29.

LOL at the Jafas. :nya: There's a reason it's called the Central North Island. From Mango you could be at your choice of any number of (motorcycle) dealers in less time than it would take to get from South or West Auckland to Barrys Point Road.
Tok, Putz, 2Matz, Tron, Vegas, Torpor, Ots & TA all have bike dealers/garages and are but an easy cruise away - mostly along roads that y'all make a special trip just to ride on.

So we called into Holeshot today to test ride the Tiger and blow me down with a Tuning fork, they had a FJR1300 in there for sale, so that gave us a second option. After a quick chat with our ole' mate Bec's, it was time to collect our riding gear which hasn't seen the light of day for some time.
Test ride 1: Instant love when the on button was hit, possibly the worst time and day (4pm Friday in Auckland) to get a real feel but we did it anyway, I just adore the triple.
Test ride 2: Na, we bought the 2011 Triumph Tiger SE 1250 with 2500kms on the clock...........no contest.
The pic was taken after they put all the other bikes away and was the closest I could get, soz lol about the background light.

Picked the bike up today, Anne said that I should go for ride, which I did, just a short outing up the Avenue past the Prison and along Ridge road. Fourth bike I have bought off Holeshot. Rob Mackichan was a pleasure to deal with. It's now safely tucked away inside and this bike is a keeper. I have been way too quick to replace bikes in the past, regretted it once or twice to be honest, none more so than the CB1300, but the Tiger makes up for any past regret.

Heh yeah every manufacturer in the real world has had 10k intervals for years. Even my Speed Four back in 05/06 had 10k service intervals. KTM are now doing 15k for the 1190.
Even 10k intervals on my barking 690 Enduro R.
Rob @ Holeshot is great. If I want another Triumph it'll be through him.
