Reckless

Just a quick post seeing we have Zero tolerance, Road rage and online petition threads going on ATM.
My findings over covering pretty much 2200k of the north Island over Xmas.
Well I must say The zero tolerance program has had some benefits!
Flashing head Lights is back with a vengeance!! THANKS Zero Tolerance :)
I did about 2200 K's over Xmas and it must be said on the whole Cagers have been wonderful.
Warnings for camera vans and patrolling Radar cars. Saved me on a one one one situation heading for Whanganui on Xmas day.
Very often warning me well before the detector went off on the open road.
Pulling to the left to let you passed also bloody 9 outa 10!
Often when they where going quite fast enough along the straights but its the corners where I closed the gap.
They'd pull well to the left leaving me thinking shall I take the risk to put throttle on to pass and risk the revenue gatherers when they where already at 110+.
People doing 90k to the 110k drivers mostly all pulled left to give room for me to pass even on the left of double yellows etc.
Car after car one after the other! The odd plonker but overall most impressed.
Did Auck to Wanganui to Welly One up, then my Precious cargo (partner) arrived on the plane in Welly on the 29th and we did multiple trips to Upper Hutt, Papraparam, Otaki Forks.
Then Home via Taka's, Masterton, Napier to Waihi, back to Mount Maunganui, through the paras to Cambridge then Auckland.
Taking out as many of the rides/twisties/gorges in the NZ motor Cycle atlas (my son found the last new copy in Christchurch which I got for Xmas) as we could on the way :)
To be Honest 120k on the Bonnie feels like 150 was on the Sv even with the Hagon Piggy backs and front fork work so didn't really crack the 120 often even while passing.
Must be gettin old aye :) and the Bonnie doesnt quite have the punch two up with 3 weeks luggage for two people in tow either.
But that was the whole point of buying the bike in the first place something slower that feels faster, you could keep your licence on and could still get to the edge of the tyre.
Great Two up bike that still surprises a few on how she can get along through the twisties :)
We have a group ride over Forgotten hwy, to Whangamomana and up the that side of the Island on Waitangi weekend and then its Paeroa a fortnight later!
Fucking love this weather and the many miles to come over summer :)
Anyway I digress
Found the traffic to be mostly well behaved and sensible, no nutters, no agro, mostly helpful to keep you on your way.
Every one seemed to be biker friendly and clubbing together with flashing Lights making a huge come back, especially when they saw the bike.
Just got back last night so What say you on your Xmas travels?
