Hi all ...

We've organised round 3 of the North Island series for the weekend of Feb 28 - Mar 1 at the Edgecumbe kart track near Whakatane. It's a great little track and we really hope you can make it. There will be camping available at the track from Friday evening to Sunday evening. There are toilets but no showers. There is also accommodation available at the Awakeri Hot Springs a few minutes up the road, including tent sites and cabins (http://www.awakerisprings.co.nz). The meeting is the weekend after Paeroa and the weekend before the Hampton Downs round of the National Champs.

In addition, there are plans underway to run a bucket meeting at the back track at Manfeild over Easter. It's quite a bit more expensive to hire this track than our usual kart tracks, so the entry fee might be a little higher than usual and there might be other classes involved to help boost the numbers. However, we're very keen to support this meeting and, if it goes ahead, we will include it as the final round of the N.I. Bucket Series. We'll let you know as soon as any more concrete info comes to hand. Feel free to email me back to let me know if you'd be keen to attend. The more we know about the number of riders who are interested, the more the event is likely to happen.

And don't forget the 2015 Bucket Grand Prix at Tokoroa on the weekend of March 28-29. It's sure to be a brilliant event as usual!

And if that isn't enough for you, remember that buckets are invited to participate in the Hampton Downs and Taupo rounds of the National Champs in the development class (racing against RG150s and Hyosung 250s etc) with an entry fee of just $35. This is a great opportunity to have a play on a full-sized track for a pint-sized financial outlay. Note that neither of these rounds will be included in the N.I. Bucket Series.

We hope to see you at Edgecumbe at the end of February.

Tim

My god I hope I'm not the only one counting up brownie points to figure out what's going to be possible.

So, who is going to turn up to round 3 at Hampton Downs with their buckets?

I'm riding my RS125 but one of my friends is flying over from aussie and the plan is to put him on my bucket in the development class.

Me and Big John have entered so he'll have my fairly stock bike to race with at least. (unless he's too fast )

I was dead keen, just too much life getting in the way of me sorting out a bike in time. Hopefully enough other people are able to support it that we get a similar oportunity again in the future.

If it falls through with my friend over from Aussie, you're welcome to give that hog of mine a beating Brian. Might need a better rear tyre though.

Rooting? Where?! My distractions are based on rust, sadly not on love. (or rooting)

I'm changing the rad on the van Sunday so corrosion rather than rust, but I sympathise.

If you're not distracted by rust or rooting or some other "R" word, get your ar$e to Edgecumbe this weekend! The weather forecast is looking good for Sat and Sun, the track is fun and the bar will be open Sat night! Hampton Downs and Taupo??? Pffui! Real bucket racers prefer 'em tight! Remember this is the last round of the North Island champs and silverware will be up for grabs! Tim

Had a discussion with a coupe, of folk at the end of sunday. It seems to be a bit of a golden period for bucket racing in the North Island. Active local scenes in Wellington and Auckland (shame about Roys hill) and some really good away rounds.

For those who haven't travelled yet, you should, GP at Tokoroa in about a month and then the away season dies off until December.

Had a great time at Edgecumbe , absolutely stoked to pick up 2nd place for the series.
Great racing with Chris pushing hard all weekend. Shame Scott had trouble with his bike - hope you are not too sore big boy.

Got home Sunday and pulled the head off my engine to find the piston and bore looking perfectly fine - running rich like the EGT said it was.
Went digging a bit deeper to find out why it stopped - reeds fine, carb clear, pulled barrel off to check and found two dirty great cracks around the cylinder base studs on the right side and the base gasket well rooted

Started building a new barrel but won`t be running for Hampton. Hoping to get to Taupo the week after.....

Bummer about the Barrel!
