View Full Version : Name for my race bike
FROSTY

This season Im going to be campaining a SV650.Many plans are afoot and in motion to turn the evil handling gutless beast into something at least as good as Mella Yella .I must say its a heck of an ask
The way SV's make power is totally different to what Im used to riding so its gonna be a heck of a learning curve.
I've had the bike dyno'd very recently and its putting out a meazley 62.5 hp and runs out of power at 9000- reving it higher is only for noise cos it sure aint goin faster.
Handling wise its diabolical -as those that saw me at Manfeild will attest to
A real tendancy to be vaugue in the steering and when the forks get hot it starts to Waunder in the front end.
Any hoo I love to name my bikes and so Im sorta thinking Black Ice or Black shadow. Any other ideas from you lot greatly apreciated.
ACTUALLY --lets make this fun
Whoever comes up with the name I use for my bike wins a free track session on it at the Taupo track day.

The 'Black Bouncer'?
'Dung Beetle'
'I can't believe that's only a 650!'
Anyone who suggests something lame along the lines of 'Black Beauty' gets instant red rep. FFS.

Trust me on this one my freind. By the time the track day comes around it will no longer be underpowered or evil handling.
As we speak parts are winging their way in my direction which may just improve things -in the handling stakes hopefully a LOT
Ive been yakking to a bunch of guys overseas who have been there done that so its a matter of paint by numbers rather than the big experiment.
I just need the parts to arrive and the transformation will begin.

Are you going to use longer spacers and heaver weight oil weight oil again?
Do you do the work on it yourself or do you get someone else to do it?
Anyone in Auckland you'd reccomend? I've finally got some bling to spend on my bike.
Sorry if slightly OT.

sorta come up with this after (I think it was crazyxr250rider) somebody said SVage. I dunno what colour bike (but from what people are saying) I'll assume black.
How about (The) Black Vision, Black Mirage, Black Rage? The is optional
Actually, using a Thesaurus I came up with a few more:
Black Fury
Black Wrath
Black Thunder
Illusion
Tornado
could also drop the black, that would add a few more.
do I win simply based on number of ideas?? :woohoo:

No quazi Ive goddit--quazilapper -cos at 1.15 ill be lappin ya by the end o the race.
Mikey-the rules say up to 450cc multi and up to 650cc twins -thems the rules.
JSG--as above
Sensei--yea I know the 05 injected bike has 75 hp But the carbed is soposed to be 65 Mine is for some reason down 2 hp
Hey the SV at 80% of race pace is a really nice stable bike -its when you really start to hammer it that the cheapo forks start to give problems.
Im going down the gixxer600 usd track -Im told they are a heck of a lot more tuneable to different riding styles.

yES THATS A GOOD NAME, BASED ON MY PERFORMANCE (OOPS) ;) at puke, the bike was not quite right then so I couldnt go to quick into turn one and the last turn as the bike was shaking cause the fairings were loose, Dss3 is making me up some brackets to get that soughted out. Might even get a damper as well.
I reckon I should be about 1.12 on race day, I hope, what you reckon youre getting ??? I thought 1.12 would be on the pace ?? tell me more
FROSTY
18th September 2005, 16:17
The really quick F3 guys get 1.06-1.08's To be honest I dunno what I'm getting on the SV Im hoping its somewhere near race pace
I think --(and don't quote me )Im currently doing 1.12's
Im gonna try a bit of sprocket changing because I'm running out of steam halfway down the back straight.
On Mella yella with douggie riding the SV In a straight out drag race I would haul away from him on the second half of the back straight then the vague front end would slow him up going up to the hill
