An often asked question is How do I repair my damaged paintwork?
Short of repairing it "properly" heres a couple of tips that might help.
Im not covering off surface preperation because thats a whole other thing again
1) stone chips on the front and tank.
You can buy little bottles of touch up paint at Repco and Super cheap Autos.
They look kinda like nail varnish and you apply the paint with a brush thats in them A fair ol range of colors is available so they might be able to help.
Visit ya local chemist/nail varnish place. --Yea ya feel like a dork asking for nail varnish to match your bike but with the modern metallics the gals are using theres a fair chance theyll have a fairly close match and they can be pretty cheap--$4.50 a bottle.Nail varnish is in essence paint with thinners in it so it will react like "normal" paint.
Another place to grab paints - model shops, check if tamiya or someone else make a model of your bike, tamiya do laquer in a can and enamel in pots that have a very good finish (thanks ferrozzot)

Theres a new crowd out there doing cars _theyre called Du majic.
my local guy is Steve -021617549 They have a huge range of tiny paint pots and pencil touch ups for stone chips and surface scratches. They then use a polishing system that gives an almost perfect repair.
It isnt cheap but its only around 20% of the price of getting the part painted in a paint shop.
2 Gravel rash on the fairing
You can again through repco and super cheap buy spray cans that are a pretty good color match to a range of colors. Ya might just get lucky and find a perfect color match.
Your local automotive paint retailer will for about $25 make you up a spray can that is a perfect match to the sample panel you supply.
A lil advise here though If its the top fairing thats garked--give em that to match to -especially on older bikes -the paint does fade and differnt panels fade differently.
A mobile paint repair company can come to you and spray out the damaged section -They sand back the damaged bit and repaint. They specialise in car bumper repairs so they know how to deal with damaged plastics.
Again not cheap but heaps cheaper than a "propper" repair and heaps more convenient
We Use The Touch up guys but there are several companies around.
Hope this helps

Dont know if this counts but my partner is a painter here in Hamilton. And I can usually rope him into working on everyone else's bikes, and never let him work on his own :shifty:

If you get a spray can see if you can get a fan nozzle for it - this gives a fan pattern like a proper spray gun,and not a horrible circular spot pattern.

When I looked after a rental fleet I used to do the panel and paint as well....but I haven't tried to paint a car or bike for nearly 20 yrs.But I just got myself a nice gravity feed gun, haven't had a go at one of those,so might practice on some tanks maybe.....

I only use gravity guns, like 'em way better than the suction units.
