i met the owner at phillip island nine years ago, went into melbourne to see it and have been nibbling away at him for a while, he finally decided on a fixed offer on ebay, whereas for years he had a reserve that wasn't reached. i think a few people had thought he was too hard to deal with in the end and it also came on ebayover xmas when a lot of people aren't going there.

Ken McIntosh has just built a new production run of these bikes - he may have the pipes or gear available now. Give him a shout.

no he doesn't. they were a megacycle system built in australia and were offered with the kit's sold by Mick Hone motorcycles. if you brought the kit anywhere else you could go to megacycle and get a pipe, but they weren't included.
i've contacted megacycle, they don't have the jig anymore, but can build one if they had the bike....

Crikey that is a cool looking bit of kit. You could just get a new muffler for it - the pipe that is on there is nice enough in terms of being mandrel bent and springs and such - doenst look like some cheap piece of shit bodged up by some numpty in a shed somewhere using finest Sparrowcraft (TM) technique.

Yeah you're right. That exhaust, especially the muffler looks way out of place. What year is the bike?

Got this pic from an article, doesn't scan well as it's black print a dark photo overlay page
Does say in it that the kits were sold in 1983 for $3199 and included:
Frame
Braced swingarm
Aluminium tank
Seat unit
Foot rest assemblies
Bars & Triple clamp
Fairing & screen
Set of S&W shocks
And the Megacycle Pipes were built on the bikes to suit the frame

interesting, must be a later article, what mags it in as it's got twin piston calipers, fairing mopunted later model mirrors and a rear hugger, not in fashion in those days.

It's STREETBIKE; their 1st edition of their top20 jap bikes (early 90s)
The bike was owned by Nick Adams & rebuilt/modified by Chris Oldfield. The article goes through exactly what was done over stock items.
The wheels are Marvic with a lot of GSX-R11 bits...brakes & other sundry items etc.
I'll post the rest of the article up in a couple of days. Also got a similar article on a BR2 from TWOWHEELS Aussie Superbikes special edition from the same era.

Well I'm polite. I brought the av gas and pushed him down the road for the test ride on the plastic. Maybe Mellowpuffs will be enough this time.

haven't even got the bike landed yet and have found a spare back wheel in perth (not sure whether mine has McIntosh hubs or suzuki as they were kit bikes that you could fit either or) a complete spare megacycle exhaust system in Japan, mine has a yoshi system whereas this kit when sold new would've had the megacycle, and some spare new triple clamps in Kapiti coast, the ones on the bike have been polished whereas they were cast finish when new....
sounds like my bank account will be even thinner....
