Found this lurking at the rear of the Tiger, but what do I do with it, and before you suggest it, I tried sticking it up my arse but only got a tingling sensation so it can't be that.

Looks identical to the solar charger connector to our boat battery. It's not a power connector to your battery, is it?

Printer/Scanner/Fax plug?

It's an aftermarket plug by the look of it. I'd say 2 pin, exposed earth concealed positive; probably direct connection to the batt so as you can put it on a trickle charger.

I've got the same plug on my DRZ, connected via a fuse to the battery terminals for keeping the battery charged when parked in the garage. Also useful for plugging in an electric pump for inflating an airbed, phone charger etc.

The correct charger didn't come with my bike, but the plug is a standard type so I flogged one off an old Cortina wiring loom that was lying around the garage to make up an adapter to the plug that fits the other bike. Now I just need to finish my mini PLC project to plug in all 3 bikes and automatically switch to whichever one needs the volts the most......

Possibly Geoff, same conclusion as bogan.

...I will trace it to see where it is connected.

Triumphs are gay - it's your factory butt plug.

But it looks like the Battery tender plug I have fitted to my Honda. Note to readers, my Honda did not come standard with a butt plug - I had to buy a genuine accessory to satify that need.

PS - stick your tongue on the end of it and see it your battery has a charge.

Might be standard on Tigers as mine has one in the same place. . . although I did put it on. But it might be part of the master plan.

Thereby proving that all Triumph owners are incapable of original thought perhaps?

It's an SAE plug, reasonably common, use it for any number of reasons. As you've found, that one will be for a battery maintainer/charger. I fitted one for an ex, had that plug. Saves you digging to the battery etc.

However, charging a battery generates heat, so depending on it's location, if under the seat, it's safer to remove the seat.
