Since getting into Adventure Riding 7-8 years ago I've ridden all over New Zealand. Most of that time I had a GPS on the bike recording where I went, though in the beginning it was for no particular purpose other than my personal interest.

3 years ago I had the misfortune of being hit with a vertigo and chronic fatigue like illness.
I'm working my way out of now and I'm back into riding again but at the time I wanted to keep involved and thought I could give a bit back to the Adventure Riding community by way of sharing information I collected along the way, it would keep me occupied and might help current and new adventure riders. So Adventure Riding NZ was born.

I had also started writing a book on Adventure Riding tracks etc in New Zealand before the fatigue hit, much like the 4x4 books that are available. The content I had written for the book become the basis on which the site was started.
In the 3 years since I have launched www.AdventureRidingNZ.co.nz it's gone from a 10 page site to 130 pages of Adventure Riding content.

As it's focus is as a community site the users can also contribute to the content. For example As well as GPS tracks supplied by me, tracks can also be sent in by users and the user gets credited for it on the track page.

Adventure Riding NZ now boasts:

535 registered members as of 30/01/2015, and growing

How did it do that?

I've loaded up almost a dozen new tracks in the last fortnight.

Our Centraol Plateau ride went off well over the weekend, we had 23 riders all up.

Pictures and video are starting to appear here: http://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/forums/topic/taumaranui-42nd-traverse-fishers-track-etc-weekend/page/5/

Here's a little bit of video featuring a small puddle on the Old Whangamomona Road that quite a few people had a problem with.

was an awesome weekend! Great tracks, great company - I enjoyed chasing the Northland boys down to Whangamomona for some cornering practices :yes::yes:

Duncan has no additional rib damage thankfully, has just prolonged the recovery somewhat :facepalm:

Great pics and vids. Enjoyed the laughs of those (who had been through the mud hole) trying to coerce the unsuspected through. V cute. Good on you Ronnda for not falling for it.
Well done everyone :headbang::clap:

It does indeed. Just went over 5700 registered members a few days ago.

As @MXnut mentioned forums all over the world have been impacted by people moving to Facebook for discussions instead of forum posting, but the website still gets around 1000 views per day of the free track downloads and other info.
