I hate being a scab, but does anyone around the North Shore have an old battery that will crank over an 89 zx10 I could have. Im trying to get my bike fixed up but I cant afford a battery at the moment, and the one in it doesnt hold a charge at all. I dont care if it wont hold a charge for more than a day, just need something that'll hold enough charge to start it a couple times through out the day. I will be getting a new battery, just strapped for cash at the moment.

I greatly appreciate if anyone can help.

Put that on your watch list in case you end up needing to buy one.
Not sure what they retail at but it looks cheapish.

No, a "your mum" joke goes along the lines of "your mum is so ugly, even you struggle to get a hard-on over her.". I was marely pointing out the fact that you are a inbred fuckwit who fornicates with his mother. The only thing that makes me a 'moron' is the fact I am back here arguing with you.

Sure sounded like you were whining about me being an Aucklander, which you seem to whine about Aucklanders alot, and the fact that I wasnt able to spend 4 hrs catching 10 different busses to Manurewa and back, for a battery that may or may not work(which Im not even sure why you would be concerned about it, its not like it inconvenienced you). So you are indeed, and fucking whiney inbred. And I dont think your mum would be too happy with you wasting your load on someone else, especially a :shit: Aucklander.
Anyway, Ill leave the last word for you, if you like. I do have better things to do.

Thanks to those that did try to help, especially caseye, I dont think Ill be able to make it out that far. Ill have to figure out a plan B.

I can probably pick the battery up from Caseye and bring it out to West Auckland if thats of any help. Fair bit closer to the Shore.

When I'm ready for a brand new one, I'll most probably contact him. I'm sure if he had something he'd have piped up, I wouldn't expect or accept a brand new one for free, I wouldn't feel right.

I wasnt refering to me, I havent touched that shit for 27 years now, I was just throwing it out there for your consideration.
I cant work out how people can manage their finances down to nil so accurately every week. Id be quite concerned if i hadnt been able to save $2 a year over the course of my life for what was going to be a guaranteed eventuality.

I knew it wouldn't be you, mate.

I agree, so few actually work out what they are going to need and save for it, eg. vehicle expenses, power, water, rent/rates/mortgage, and so on. They will never know the peace of having an expense arrive and having the money there to pay it.

If you can't afford to run a bike/car/hovercraft, etc. you can't afford to buy it.

I was gobsmacked the other day when told how much a roll of tobacco costs now!

When I call one "second hand", it's still able to carry full warranty. I have given away the occasional "faulty" one that won't come up perfect. Usually one that has been damaged by the owner but still carries most of its charge. These have no warranty and are taken on that understanding.

And there's needy and there's needy, not always genuinely needy but would like a freebie.

But then if Manurewa is a bit far to go to get something for free then Tauranga will be out of the question.

Thread hijack but on this topic, a friend that's new to riding has ended up with a dead battery (charged it and it held no charge) and also needs something for her Scorpio. Turns out new riders aren't real confident bump starting a bike everywhere. :) anybody got a spare little one for a Scorpio? Think it's a 7AH, the skinny ones.

Sure, but it really depends on the riding she does and how much she wants to spend. I think you can pick those ones up pretty cheaply from the likes of Supercheap and Repco. Shorai will last a lot longer though so they are better value for your dollar, ie: cheaper in the long run.

The cheaper the better. I'll check SCA/Repco but the shit ones off TradeMe might do the job for now.

Sigh. Young people. One good is better than ten bad. Spend a very small amount more, get a good one. Edbear is totally on the money with it being cheaper in the long run.

Checks, balances, and feature creep though.

Either a cheapo batt for 75 bucks, or an expensive BMS equipped Lithium one for ultimate longievity for 300 (why dick around with anything in between?). Might last 2 and 20 years respectively so obviously better to get the later in the long run. But if the rest of the bike is going to the scrappies in 2 years (see, kawasaki), then why not the cheapo? Or if you can invest that 225 savings and get 300 profit in 2 years... or (and this one is most applicable) if your 300 bucks is a whole a weeks income now, but 1/5 of a weeks income in 2 years then which really is 'cheaper' in the long run?
