I don't know if I'm asking too much for it so make me a reasonable offer and it's yours.

Runs well and I would love to keep it but I have too many bikes and I need space at home :(

I was very close to contacting you about this bike. I believe I may have my current ride sold (pending) and have been browsing Tme for a small -medium bike. I have a bike I'm committed to going to look at in Hamilton today, if nothing comes of this, I might still get in touch. I was put off a bit by the state of the frame re-corrosion.

dream'n sorry mate. a few friends have fixed up ex-army bikes back to their army day glory for re-enactments but they're $500 machines and had less rust.

Fair enough. I have sorted most of the bad corrosion on the frame by using a rust kill and primer then sprayed over with silver. There are still a few surface rust patches but nothing horrid. Looks a lot better now I must say.

I don't think it's $500 worth. There are worse bikes selling for over $2500!

Yeah $500 is a dreaming price

Get some POR15 and fix that frame man. It is really off putting. Also some second hand stainless handlebars, (or tidy up your ones), wouldn't go astray. As it is, it doesn't look like a 3.5k bike, it looks like a beach hack.

Cheers yeah I have used some Septone rust killer stuff all over the frame etc and sprayed it all silver with automotive paint. Handlebars got a coating of both too but it could be better. Just mainly focused on the frame as that was the worst of it.

Costs about $400 to have it powdercoated. Im getting one done next week.

That is pretty cool! I don't have the time to get that done though :( If I took it all apart to paint, I'd want to make it immaculate by the end of it. It think it'd be just a great commuter and weekend ride for someone. Will take some new pics with the rust sorted out soon if that makes it more appealing

SOLD in 11 months time.

With the frame pix in tardme you wont get any interest at the price your asking.
Repainted frame and new bars it will attract interest but still sub 3k.

See this is the kind of feedback I need, thank you.

I will upload some good pics tonight of the frame as it is now and I think I'll drop the price. I need it sold because I hate seeing it not ridden. I've taken it out almost every day now. I actually love it, great riding position, enough BRAAP for commuting and fun times and so maneuverable! Tempted to keep it until I get a bigger bike on my full... But my Hyosung I got ages ago has been amazingly reliable and is fuel injected so it'd be foolish of me to sell it for the KLR I think.

I see myself losing my licence on this KLR too, I have gone into so many off road areas now to explore stuff, love it!

Stick the new pix on asap and idd shorten your auction to its min time and let it expire out. When you relist( same auction new pix ) photo it from low down with trees in the background and advertise it as the ultimate lams legal bike that can take you out of town exploring on the weekends.
Reserve and starting bid 2.5k buy now 2.9k
Someone will either buy now to secure it or bid early to take the buy now away.

Don't be confused by the quantity of watchers. Most of them is me.

$500 offer still on the table ^_^ there is one thats only done ~137KM, thats not even run in, same year no rust, and the military model (rack and bar protector), looks cherry, like it was just out of factory, located in Katikati for $2750

Thanks Mossy! I have made some changes to the auction and relisted now. I think your idea of having trees in the background is good, may take some more pics in some bush when I ride it later this week :)

Good, then this should be worth at least 2k worst case.

It's not road legal and a 2001 with 137 on the clock means well over a decade sitting. That's not a good thing.

With $50< investment yours will look more attractive in your pics and possibly be a better buy (but not for 3.5k :P)

I was being a cheeky, greedy, little shit at the time. I have learnt the error of my ways :) What else do you reckon needs doing on the KLR?
Might look at getting some new handlebars like suggested by Mossy. Torpedo7 does good deals on them

I pretty much told you exactly the same thing 6 posts in!

Just had a flick through you ad pics, way better, good effort.

Ad looks pretty good to me without getting fussy about things. If out of town people want closer pics of forks, sprockets etc they'll ask.

Haha yeah you did too!

Thanks :) I am quite happy with how it all turned out. I think I'll tidy it up more in areas this weekend if I have time like spraying the pack rack etc. Got quite a few watchers already too.

Appreciate the advice from everyone!

Good job BP.
Its in the price bracket to attract a first bike buyer that doesn't want a replica race bike.
