There is a bit of flapping in the media but the cause is up still in the air at the minute.

My thoughts go out to the tooting vehicle that was sadly inconvenienced by the crash.

How unlucky is that van driver! Shirley that's a first.

Not only Tourists on the wrong side of the road.

FFS in the Franklin area - there is a whole lot (most) of locals who cant keep on their side of the road.

They completely cut blind corners, any corners for that matter.

You should see their faces when they realise they have a truck coming the other way :killingme

but they never learn :angry2:

and its never their fault.

and cruising thru stop signs without slowing (or looking) in the countryside:mad:

"Country drivers killing country people since way back"

just as well I don't have a cannon on the bike......

Yes we should have more reminders for Foreign Tourists as they travel around. Keep left
for locals we should have car crushers

I have read it, maybe I am too thick to understand it.

but I am sick of being cutoff on the roads up here.

How often have you been driving and come around a blind corner and someone is on your side of the road.
and you watch them suddenly realise it. Even better when their passenger is screaming at them.

I don't watch the news or sport - I am over it.

Maybe I got the thread wrong. If I did, ignore my post.

OK I got it wrong.

I thought somehow I was meant to be watching something else. Bike porn?

i have been to China, Thailand, things happen there they give a toot and carry on. Even when the car you are being driven in is going the wrong way on the motorway, no worries mate, a little toot is ok!
been to Rome you should check out the scooter traffic so many bikes it's amazing. A little toot if you are on the wrong side.
in NZ there would be a crash

Ta, I gotta remember its KB right.

I read the title, saw the car piccie. added 1+1 looked at various posts
didn't look at the video (I am supposed to be working today/tomorrow)

I ride with a small group - there lots of ribbing going on there - makes it enjoyable with a fun group
its fun, they ask questions, people learn from each other in a non threating way.

I am , I don't always agree with KB, but would one day like to meet with some certain KBers.

Yeah, there are a lot of people on here who have never made a mistake in their lives, must be why they are such serious boring fuckers. Me, I make plenty of mistakes, but it keeps my life interesting.:devil2:

Saw passing mention in the news today one engine died so they switched off the other one for good measure. I think we have some Darwin winners here, just a shame they took a few others out with them.

I'm not a pilot but the turn seemed a bit counter productive as well. Not sure if it was by choice or running out of lift but they possibly would have cleared the bridge (just) if not for that, and there would be less shit stained taxi upholstery, and maybe a better landing, but we can't see what's in front of him either.

Quick 4 day brush up on emergency procedures for the remaining ATR pilots.

Yep, people love to bag ourists and Asians but locals are probably greatest threat.

Last night rich prick in latest SUV starts cutting corner 20m before intersection so he doesn't have to stop and give way to my truck. Then someone comes steaming up the side road he's turning into so he halfway aborts and turns to face me head on to correct and go round the other car. Didn't even have time to get on the brake, the look on his face would have been dashcam gold.....

Imagine if you were on your bike....... Some of the ACC blame is due to drivers.

I have seen this all too much. Funny how I used to drive the same roads AND be FASTER AND not cross any lines, that I see the morons cutting not only blind but all corners.

Yesss the look on their faces OMG, and when they have their kids and partners there too in the car....:spanking::spanking::spanking:

We put the dash cams in a few weeks ago and i tell ya mate....the number of "holly shit " moments we have captured already would give you a turn for sure. No it's not all Asian tourists either.
It appears the majority is of island variety living and working in NZ. They are 2nd to the money makers in their flash as VW/Mercs etc. Less of them but they were bigger offenders. Large trucks just don't seem to scare people much these days.:nono:

I saw some appalling driving when i was in France a few years back, mostly by the kiwis i was there with who are also appalling drivers at home. Crap drivers are crap drivers even when they're on holiday

Still can't figure how people end up on the wrong side of the road, if i started to head that way it felt completely wrong to be on the wrong side of the car and away from the centre line

Still can't figure how people end up on the wrong side of the road, if i started to head that way it felt completely wrong to be on the wrong side of the car and away from the centre line It only takes a few seconds to realise your mistake but unfortunately in those few seconds you can have a high speed head on and suddenly be up for a public hanging in NZ.

It feels completely wrong to have the steering wheel on the 'wrong' side so that throws you anyway. Hate to say it but the reality is that if you allow people to drive here who normally drive on the other side of the road then you will always have head on crashes caused by them reverting to instinct. Should we burn them for doing something we could easily do ourselves while on holiday? Seems like that is what the media are pushing at the moment. Dealt with two major crashes in last 24 hours but neither had a foreign driver so they were only worth a couple of lines in the paper.

Testing will do fuck all to stop these very rare but always high profile crashes from happening. All the other crashes (with the exception of any crash caused by a shithouse Chinese driver) are caused by the same things that cause crashes with NZ drivers, bad choices and bad decisions. Fuck, tourism is so big I am surprised that the numbers are so low. Lower than the numbers driving anyway, but that seems to be missed by the rabid media at the moment as well.

I think rental car companies should suggest that when renting to people who generally drive on the right side of the road, that the front seat
passenger should be staying as alert as the driver to signage and road position, rather than relaxing and gazing at the surrounds.

... along with welding a large spike in the centre of the steering wheel as "encouragement to focus on the fucken' road".
