Has anyone here sat their 6R and 6F licence exams (either NZTA or CBTA) on a >50cc scooter? I'm assuming you can, but can't find any concrete info.

Buying a AN125 (probably) to commute to uni and would like to progress past the Learner's.

Also, any recommendations as to whether to take the NZTA exams or do CBTA?

Thanks.

Yes you can do your 6R and 6F on it - however, you might have your licence endorsed because the scooter is "automatic". Perhaps one of the Popo on here can confirm or deny this or suggest where you can find the relevant information.

As for NZTA or CBTA - can't advise you which to do...

You buying new or used? - might want to consider something with a bigger engine, say 250cc

If it's like the car licence, doesn't really matter. The endorsement's for the restricted but not the full, and I don't see myself upgrading until after finishing both.

Probably buying used, just negotiating the details at the moment. Not many second-hand 250cc scooters available, and a bike seems a bit less practical for what I'll be using it for. Don't expect to do much motorway riding either, the 10PM restriction on the learners/restricted means I'd probably take a car instead.

Was thinking about going for a 50cc actually, so the 125's already quite a step up.

Yes you can. My wife got her 6R on a 125 scoot and her 6F on a 250 scoot. (some years ago)

Thanks. Was there an endorsement on the 6R limiting her to automatics?
