I have been preparing the ever faithful DRZ 400 for the DB1K and have discovered a leaking OMG fuel tap on my Safari tank. I've been in touch with Safari tanks and have ordered a complete new fuel tap, (apparently they have run out of gaskets for the old type plastic tap). Unfortunately they won't be able to guarantee shipping in time for the ride, so the question is does anyone have a spare gasket I can have, or know of a alternative fuel tap that I will fit the Safari tank in time for next Wednesday the 11th?

All help appreciated !!!

I'm running a 7.2 litre tank (original) and carrying a 5 litre petrol can on the carrier (it's the red plastic sort) it actually holds 6 litres. If all else fails could you do that ? We only need to travel 220 km's (longest run ) petrol available in oturehua, they are opening for us again Claire said.

Would possibly work as a last resort, will see if anyone has a spare gasket hanging around or knows where I might get one this side of the pond.

Can you not use RTV silicon or similar to repair damaged gasket? Hell, if they use it for engines, surely it would be okay as a temporary fix until correct new fuel gasket arrives.

Hello, ordinarily yes this would work, unfortunately the gasket is quite intricate, with 3 small holes positioned in exactly the right place to give you the on/off/reserve, the tap moves across this and has torn the gasket completely.
