I have an old Morgan Carbtune kit - sadly it looks as though not all of it made the trip from the UK. So I'm short of a small bottle of mercury, several plugs and suchlike. I have the gauges, the rubber extension tubes, and the instructions.

I'd like to balance the carbs of the GSF this weekend... Is there anyone vaguely local to Te Kauwhata who could lend me a set of gauges?

Fingers crossed. :)

Looks like this will have to wait a while longer.

However... If anyone is considering a purchase of a set of gauges, I'm happy to recommend Carbtune - www.carbtune.com - based on my experience of their customer service. I emailed them just before 10am here, yesterday morning - so that would be late evening on a Friday in Northern Ireland.

I received a very helpful reply at 7am today, so that'd be early on Saturday evening over there.

The sender knew exactly what I was talking about, despite the kit I have not having been made in over 20 years. I was advised what I needed, where to get it, and that parts for my old kit may well be available should I need them. Economically, it may not make a lot of senses and a new kit may be a better idea. (This last bit is my thinking, and not something they've suggested.)

Of course there are probably cheaper ways to achieve the same thing, and a search on here has turned up several options.

I made a manometer on friday, it doesn't take much. For 2 cyl, not much use to you.

On the GSF1200, the cylinders are balanced in pairs: 1&2, and 3&4. There's another balance point in the centre of the carbs to balance across the (already balanced) pairs. Theoretically, a manometer for a twin would work.

Make one. Length of hose (1/8th id) and some 2 stroke oil, and balance it up. Need a long bit of hose.
