I found this interesting read. Might be old news to a lot but for the average punter there is information that could increase tyre life.

Nice. I might play around a little more with my pressures on the road. I am getting a slight tear so maybe under inflated?

There is also a contributing factor not mentioned in that article. You're riding a 17 year old bike, possibly wearing tyres designed to offer best performance on the latest machinery.

My RF is better to ride on sports touring hoops, than road race rubber. Lap times are better on the good gear of course, but fuck it eats them.

Your bike is 20kgs heavier than a current thou, and has a comparitively fucked weight bias/geometry set up.

Thats very true!
I am running an S20 front and an S20 Evo rear. I went with the S20's after yours and One Armed Bandits reviews. Running 36 psi front and 38psi rear.
I pretty much just go and thrash up and down the Rimutakas when I manage to get out. I don't do a hell of a lot of K's so not too worried about wear life, more interested in good grip, and I am impressed with the grip they give. I have not had a hint of the back losing grip so far, although my last rear was pretty fucked before I replaced it so maybe not the best comparison.
My rear looks OK but it does look like a slight tear rather than the ripples in sand look. Might see if I can get a photo that shows it later.

Mine went flat at 300. It caused premature wear but scrubbed back nice again later.

And this shows how hard it is to get a good photo of wear on tyres! :D

OK looks like on second thoughts I might be talking out of my arse.

Here are a couple of pics of my tyres and the rear actually looks pretty good. Possibly the front looks a bit gouged rather than worn so maybe I am pushing the front a bit possibly a geometry issue.
On the whole they look way better than they did in my head!

Here's mine after a track day. Also by the looks of that read my rear suspension rebound is too fast :(

Don't have a pic of the front, nothing exciting happening on that one.

Those wear patterns are indicative of fuck all, if the rider isn't riding fairly well.

If your front tyre isn't getting a work out and the rear is, I can safely assume your corner speed is low and you are getting on the throttle hard as fuck to exit a corner.

Ha ha that is probably close, but possibly not even that hard on the throttle on the exit! more like fairly slow everywhere! :D

That sounds a lot like me.

I should point out that I'm no being judgemental about it. Just suggesting you shouldn't go searching for an issue that may not exist.

This sums it up.
