How old? And what do you want it for. Already been interrogated over someone using an old plate of mine, so I have a right to be suss.:msn-wink:

I think I still have an old plate from the VF hanging in the shed.

Looking for a black & white plate to fit to the '52 Trophy, as the modern plates don't do it. Thanks, but the VF plate is probably too modern. Appreciate your reply.

Are you going to try reactivate the plate into the system and register the Trophy to it or is just a display bike.
Surely your not intending to ride it not registered on a plate that will be recorded as a different bike?

I think you get the old plate ... then apply for a Personalized plate with the same numbers/letters. If the plate is dead ... it should come up as available. Then you use the old plate on the bike.

The TR5 is not ridden on the road. and if it was, I would not say here what plate I would use as that could be incriminating and used as evidence against me,. Besides, riding it just reminds how BAD the old days were and how good the modern bikes are. <_<

usually the only time a plate is dead is once it's physically handed into the post offal.

What!!? That's just crazy talk.
Old shitters demand to be ridden properly...not electronically handbraked to appease the dim and effete.

I should have written: "The TR5 is not ridden on the road " - often. Just when I need a reminder of how good modern bikes are.

She's a beauty! I have a Rickman Metisse with the same engine.
I see Fonzies TR5 of Happy Days has recently been rediscovered & is headed to auction with an expected value of $US90k.

Unfortunately, once a rego number has been issued they will not produce that same number as a personalised plate, even if the original plate has dropped out of the system.

You can get the rego number of an old black and silver plate reissued but only if it's going back on the bike that it originally came off and only if there has been no other plate assigned to that bike since the original one.

Rickman Metisse.
According to engine number the engine is from a TR5 lightweight short wheelbase purpose built 1958 factory dirt bike.

I've never ridden it in anger. I'm one of those wankers that has a few bikes just for looking at.
I bought it of the first owner/builder. It has been a Timaru bike all it's life prior to my ownership, & as best I can tell, he only ever rode it for a few hours.

That- is a serious bit of history.............

No joy yet sorry man. I thought I had a bunch of plates tucked in behind the garage door but instead I found some jandels and some hurley sticks there, neither of which I've seen for a long time so I obviously can't trust my memory haha.
I've def got one (it was off an old Morris I think and still had some rego tags/stickers on it, not sure if applicable to bikes way back when or not) so will keep you in mind when it shows up in case you're still looking.

There is a bloke on here that can CNC a black plate to the numbers of your white plate so well that you cant tell it from the real deal.
If I name him I fear my remains will never be found.

Gorgeous! I had a 55 T100. Have you got all the tech specs for the TR5? I still have a Triumph manual for twins from 1945 to 1956 and it has quite a bit of info on the TR5.
