Hi to all kiwibikers.
Im 28 from Chch, & have decided i want to get another motorbike for running around on.( much cheaper than running a subie eh.) plus i just want to have some wat of getting my thrills. :scooter:
I havent actually ridden in 8 years, but do have a full licence.
I think the biggest bike i have ridden is a 400cc sportsbike.
I am looking at getting a 250cc to 400cc commuter/sports bike.but cant believe how expensive some bikes still are. with some dealers wanting $5k for a 15 year old + bike.
& theres doesnt seem to be much going on in the private market in Chch.
Im not keen on spending more than $1500 -$2k ,will just have to keep looking for now ,hope to join ya's out on the roads soon.

Welcome to the madhouse :niceone:

250s will always be relatively expensive because learners can only get that or less, and everyone has to (well, if they obey the laws) to get one.

You would probably be best off getting a 400cc naked bike. There is also a 350cc Goose which some on the site have and say is very good.

Welcome to the site.
As for the bike. It's best to wait and get what you want, than rushing in.
Summers coming and something will turn up.
In the mean time, try to ride as many different bikes as you can.

Impatience is my biggest weakness, damn it.
I have gone around & veiwed a handful of bikes. but as i havent ridden in so long I havent been to keen to hop on someone eles property.just in case i stuff up.
Im confident that if i brought a bike i could hop straight on & ride home but i dont want to risk damaging a bike i probably wont buy if you know what i mean.

Welcome home...just got back into it myself after 25 years.. Have a look on Trade Me, some good buys in there. Got my one through Trade Me (nothing much less than $3500 anywhere else, found my one and got it for $2800 and it is a bloody good one too...) Bikepoint can also give you ideas on prices, you occasionally get private sellers there too. Don't wait for summer though (if possible), thats when prices will go up again.... :2thumbsup

250s are pricey because all newbies need them...if you have your full, 400s are usually cheaper, depending on what you want...long live Trade Me...

Umm....I think i just brought my new bike.
I jumped on trade me when I got home from work. & found this new listing.

rung the chap ,& while discussing the finer details, decided to hit "buy Now"

I thinks it a pretty cheap deal.

It had the seat recovered, Had a repaint,Near new tires,& apparantly runs very well,& quiet. in his words ,making a liar of the mileage.

Reg is on hold & apparantly breezes through wofs.
Its a risk i know ,but when talking to the guy I sensed he was a very legit old guy.
He hasnt been using it & is just simply over bike's.Prefers his merc instead.

I know there not that powerful. But of all the cruisers (jap) the Savage has always looked the nicest.
Cheez ive never even sat on one.... I must be mad eh.

It looks very sensible. When does the NOS kit go on it?

Welcome to the wide world of KB :nya:

Sounds like you're doing what I did. Rode for a number of years, backed off then got back into it again.

Good on ya.

As someone else said - welcome to the madhouse, and with that handle I think you should fit in well...
