Yeah, didnt want to thread hijack but this is the forecast for today and tomorrow from fencepost.co.nz:

Monday: Cloudy periods this morning with moderate westerlies, strong cold blustery southwesterlies at times develop in the evening; heavy squally showers likely with some thunder, and possibly damaging hail. Snow lowering during the day to 700m by night. Southerlies may be up to gale force near Cook Strait.

Tuesday: Strong to gale southwesterlies ease during the day on Tuesday with showers and snow to 700m clearing at night, fine periods possible during the afternoon.
