Hey everyone, I'm a motorcyclist from Seattle. Just thought I'd introduce myself and post about my impressions on here as I see more of your awesome country! :) I blog at www.adventuresinfinite.com. I also run www.globalwomenwhoride.com.
I'm coming down to NZ in the first week of March to ride around for a month. I'm going to go through some of the forum posts to get ideas for routes to take. Any useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated too. :) Also, if any of you want to meet up for coffee while I'm in your area and maybe show me some of your favorite routes, that would be lovely!
Oh, and I'm going to ask the same question that someone else asked a while ago. I'm looking to rent a motorcycle from another motorcyclist in the Auckland area. If you or someone else you know has something in the 400-600 cc range that you want to make a bit of money on, please do message me! I'm also going to look on TradeMe and local motorcycle shops, of course, but renting from a fellow rider or doing a bike swap type arrangement (in case you want to come ride my bikes in Seattle) is my first preference.
I'm a responsible, experienced rider and I've been riding for almost ten years now.

I have been following your site on Facebook. You do get around some interesting places! I am just out of Auckland in the beachside town of Orewa if you want to get in touch when you get here.

Thanks for the warning. :)
Send me your contact info via PM and I will stay in touch. No idea about my route yet and whether I go down that way or not.
I think there will be a welcome dinner for me or something in Auckland to which I could invite you if it's close enough.

Never been there, been in Czech Republic though. Once on the border in 1973 as a young GI, and last spring. Enjoy your trip to NZ. It is much different from Europe in that the majority of the people actually like Americans. It is a hauntingly lovely place that places your senses on overload. I have been traveling there for decades, and I have yet to have a boring trip. You will not want to leave. If you want culture, check out the Otara Flea Market near Auckland. Every culture in the South Pacific is represented. I do not leave NZ without checking it out. It is only open on the weekends. If you like cheese, stop in at Mercer between Hamilton and Auckland, the best in the world. I am eating a grilled (toasted) sammy right now of their chili cheese. Best thing to do is hit the road and see what hits ya! I took a ride like that in 2012 when I retired and wound up in Newfoundland in St. Anthony, which is as far north as Alaska.
Good Luck!

That is a lovely comment, thank you so much! It would be great to ride up to Newfoundland some day. Nova Scotia is soooo far away though....
I don't like crowds but you make the flea market sound interesting. I will check it out, thank you. :)

Hey all, I had a couple of people send me private messages and I replied and clicked "Submit Message" but I don't see my replies in the Sent folder. Any idea why that is? Also, when I tried to do "Send private reply" it said I couldn't because I'm a new member and I haven't used the forums enough.
Basically - if the two people who wrote to me see this thread, can you confirm that you got my replies? Or send me your email addresses so that I can contact you outside the forum.

We are 50km north of Wellington and can often be talked into providing a bed etc. Just remember that we do actually need to work still here in paradise so if its a week day there are limits LOL....
