Well, without a little more background info on your riding experience etc age yada yada its hard to say whether it is suitable, but they are good learners bikes except for the cost of fairings :thud:

Top Speed is 160km/h. Acceleration is not as quick as the zxr or cbr 250, but still easily enough to get you into trouble.

Welcome to the madhouse. :2thumbsup

If you're a speedfreak, why would you want a ZZR? And if yuo havn't ridded (?) before, being a SPEEDFREAK probably isn't a good idaedae...

haha ridded! I have had no experience on the road but am very confident I can handle as I can ride dirt bikes good. What sorta modifications can you do to a zzr to make it faster at a low cost?

none, by a bigger bike or a nsr/rgv/rs 250 2smoker. Get a 400 or a 600 dont bother with modding that bike will only cause you trouble.

What license do you hold?? It is not worthwhile modding a 250, you won't normally see any return for your money.

Fixing a 250 that needs fixing is obviously fine.

then get into some real tight twistys. You can have alot of fun on a 250 under 100k/hour. The ZZR is a good bike. I am more than a little bias though cause I would say any kawy is a good bike.

If you are wanting to learn how to ride on the road, you don't need to learn how to go fast. That comes with experience. You need to learn the basics as dirt bike riding and road riding are different to each other (Stupid statement I know, but it makes sence)

A ZZR is OK for you to learn on, but if you get a CBR or ZXR or 2 stroke, don't come crying back when you hurt yourself.

i have been told by one ex-zzr owner to stay away from them, he had bearing problems with his, nut.....he had ridden the south and north island hammering the fucken thing, so i would say go for it....it will seem guttless pretty quick...if you want a parralell twin also look at the gsx without the r. i tested one and yes it was comfy and very smooth it was also kinda guttless and thats coming from a fucken gn rider. i am trying bto get a gsxr250, i would say get a four cylinder.

I liked my ZZR. Never missed a beat and easy to ride.
I always had the feeling that I shoulda got a ZXR though. You just can't shake the feeling that you didn't get the fastest 250 you could have.
Having said that, my CBR felt slow pretty quick too. 250s are like that.

You could do much worse than a ZZR as a first road bike. It's a kwakka so you know it'll have personality!

just get a bike, in the style you like, and learn to ride... then when you have some skill worry about getting a faster bike. The ZXR can still put the shits up me in a corner so unless you only intend on doing it in a straight line, speed is nothing mate - its all about skill and big salty balls

Since I own a ZZR and "try" to ride fast I did some research into this subject. Here is what I concluded after much effort:

The cheapest way to make a ZZR250 go faster is: sell it and buy a ZXR or CBR or 2Smoker250.

But hey - I'm not dissing the ZZR it is a great bike and I love it. It is wayyy better than the CBR or ZXR if you want to tour as it is a lot more comfortable.

If you can ride fast in the dirt you will probably find it's limits in weeks...
Only a test ride will really settle it for you.

Excuse me mister JSG, but according to my sig, I have the greatest performance upgrade for a ZZR.

But then, I am in the rare position of having the skills to install this fantastic upgrade...
