Hi
My son's girlfriend's Jap 2004 GN250 master front brake cylinder sight glass is dissolving, allowing fluid to seep through it. The mechanism is faultless in all other ways.
Can the sight glass be replaced? Alternatively does anyone have any leads on secondhand cylinders, with or without the brake handle etc?
Thanks in advance!
Matt

Get in touch with a motorcycle wrecker, they may have one available:

As long as the reservoir is FULL and does not leak ... how much you can see IN IT ... is irrelevant.
Regular checks to ensure it IS full is only required. If it works ... don't fuck with it.

The problem is that it's turned to jelly, the fluid is leaking through it ... worse case would be to glue something over the hole for now.
Will be trying wreckers tomorrow.
Thanks guys.

Faaaaaaaaar - that's cheap. I guess that's the benefit of owning such a common/popular bike.

Yeah anything for them is cheap.
Mine has a Chinese master on it and it seems to work as poorly as any other GN ;)
Actually, the whole front brake system on mine is Chinese from Aliexpress and hasn't fagged out

Somebody on here posted recently about similar problem.....he somehow glued new glass in......
but couldn't you just seal it of with bolt and nut...?
And some synthetic washers up to the task....?
Who needs sightglass...?

Was quoted $170 today from Boyd in Hamilton, quite liking the bolt, washer, seal and nut idea for a quick fix! Will be hitting up good old Ali Express.
Thanks guys!
