Hi there from France,
We will be a party of 8 and we are planning to do a 2 weeks tour of NZ late 2015.
We would like to know whether someone knows about B&Bs or small charming hotels (this is the type of accommodation we are looking for rather than standard motels/hotels) with their owners fond of motorcycles.
Thanks in advance for your help & answers.
Take care,
Josiane

Try http://www.jasons.co.nz.
They have a pretty comprehensive list of b&b's and hostels as well as hotels.
Most places here are reasonably biker friendly.

My Dad has a motel in Taupo. Great for motorcyclists and racers (as there is a lot of parking for trailers)

What kind of standard of accommodation are you expecting???
Some of the more - erm - interesting accommodation places utterly horrify visitors from overseas...
Make yourself known as you get here - someone will show you the nicer roads to ride LOL...

Thanks Paul. Much appreciated.
It will be a higher end tour so 4* B&Bs are what I am looking for.
Cheers,
Jo

Some great spots to visit - If you decide to centralise - drop me a line I can get a great deal in Hamilton which has some great rides around the area. An hour out of Auckland and 1.15mins to rotorua.

If you are coming off season you can find plenty of motels and hotels with b&b prices on www.trivago.com. I'm not really the person to ask as on a trip like that I'm more likely to take a tent and see what's going as you go. Use the tents when there is nothing. Bit harder to with 8 other riders in tow.

Speaking of roads to ride.
Try an app called greatest road.
A little slow but it lets you plot journeys or record them but more importantly it lets you see where other road users like to ride and what they think. Some include roads to avoid.
I have found a few good riding roads. Just fire it up and search for recommended rides near where you are or select.
Based out of the us but anywhere google
Maps is it works.

The Whangamomona Hotel on the way to Taranaki is a classic biker destination. In the South Island the Formerly the Blackball Hilton is pretty cool.

Hi Jo
Look out here...

Worth your time to stick some decent rides together.
B&B's are not 'usual' in NZ although they do exist. Its unlikely a B&B will accommodate 4 so the more common option is the Motel or Motor Lodge. You usually take care of your own food etc but there are cafe's aplenty here...
Don't ignore Top 10 holiday parks as well. There is usually a wide range of accommodation and some is very good although maybe not quite 4*

If you stick up a rough itinerary / route / dates then people will happily give you ideas for the best eateries.
Don't think distance / time here like Europe. Here roads are smaller and twisty so it takes longer to go A to B and allow plenty of time for stops. Also just because the is a place name on a map here please don't assume there is a town there....
Cheers
