Hi i share a dr350 with my dad and i want to get my own bike. something a bit smaller but still with quite a bit of power so i was looking at 125 2 strokes and i came across heaps of suzuki tf125's on trade me and they are considerably cheaper than others like yz125. i was just wondering if a tf125 would behave like a normal 2 stroke 125 and if it would be quick enough to have heaps of fun trail riding and on home made tracks with some jumps. and also how would it compare to a drz-125? i want to be faster than my little brother who rides that bike :shifty: any and all thoughs and opinions greatly apprectiated
thanks.

no

fun is entirely up to you. personally, i'd get bored quickfast on a bug. go fera ts 185. i think whoserwhatsit is still trying to sell hers (cheap as shit, too)

with some jumps.
on a bug? fuck no. not many at any rate!

and also how would it compare to a drz-125?
poorly.

i want to be faster than my little brother who rides that bike :shifty:
dont.

dont compare yourself to anyone else.
like your teachers always said "just do your best"

also. they're two different beasties. completely. a quick game of spot-the-difference.

Get one, wring its neck until you either get bored with it or you kill yourself on it. If you get bored you can always move up and on, but if your dead you wont care.:Punk:

If you are 6'2" why would you want smaller than a dr350?

They are a tall bike but a small one.

A 250/300 cc four stroke so Yamaha TTR250, Suzuki DR250 or Dr 200, Honda XR250 or XR 200, Kawasaki KLX 250/300 all can be had for under 3g
If you want a two stroke Kawasaki KDX 200 same price range.
All of these are capable trail bikes and will give years of use with low maintenance requirements.

im not too keen on my 350 because its quite heavy so thats why i was looking at 2 strokes because you get the power but less weight. now im kinda leaning towards a kdx 200

Touch of a gamble, but maybe Scotty could pitch in, not to many things can wrong in a 2/ & the kdx200 has a great rep.

I like akzie's suggestion of a TS185. I think the TF125 Mudbug and Ts185 are related anyway. Back in the day when some thing like a TS185ER was first released I think it replaced the TF, which at the time was a TS(non-re) model. I think the motors are close cousins . A TF is basically a decent old school trail bike with mud protection and racks and a torquey low revving two stroke motor. It will give you cheap biking with great parts availability for what is a 30 year old design. Just don't spend $3k on the thing or else you've totally missed the point. Buy the cheapest well looked after example you can find. Don't spend money to upgrade any components though; ride it till you outgrow it. Then sell it and buy something better.

at 6 2 and my guess 90 plus kg's i think the RM100 is a bit small for you, and the TF125

as said above, a KDX250 or RMX250 might be good, a 125 MX bike, RM. CR, KX or YZ125,
KDX200 would be good as well, my old man is 6 foot and 105kg, and still loves his one,

if you want to stay four stroke, then a KLX300, XR250, might be the go, both a bit lighter than the DR350
