I'm interested in doing my first track day. What do I need to get involved? I would probably take my GSX-750, which is reg'd and wof'd and basically 100% stock. It has good rubber, but touring-style tyres not soft sports tyres. I have a 1-piece leather suit, basic leather touring style boots, Revit summer gloves and a Shoei helmet. Is there anything else I need to consider? Is there any good reason not to ride my bike there and back?

edit: Oh, and importantly, how much track time would I get in a day?

A back protector is often required and you will want gloves with cuffs.

You will get more track time than you can handle.

So which one is track 2? is that the full track?

Only one I did there was wet and a super short track. Left feeling quite meh about it.

There is never a reason not to ride to a track day with a registered bike :)

I personally wouldn't do a track day without a back protector but I always wear one anyway.

They run 15 minute sessions so you get 15 minutes ever hour. so about two hours in a day.--doesn't sound much but its a fair bit of riding.
First off I'd strongly recommend investing in a back protector and getting into the habit of wearing it.-Makes it less strange when on track.
In advance I'd remove each mirror one at a time and see if you can use just the bolts and penny washers to secure the fairing.
Then trackside whip em off. you DO NOT need and frankly they will cause you a power of trouble.
The same applies to pack racks. remove the top loop/pack carrier. Preferably fit a grab bar instead but if not Id duct tape the exposed uprights. .
Other than that just have your bike as normal roadworthy as possible.
Ohh and relax. You are there for fun not to win an imaginary race

Yes the hard spine type. I wear one all the time. Feels odd without.

I run rubber plugs in them from a hardware shop. Tape wont stop them stabbing you in a tumble. Cost under $1 from memory.

Frosty is right - 2 hours doesn't sound like much, but it will feel a lot longer, especially if you are riding home.

I'm feeling a bit rejected, there was a Moto TT flyer tucked into the seat strap on the suzuki 250 parked next to my yamaha supersport. Did I get one? noooo. Well fine. I wasn't crying riding home today, it was raining...:crybaby:
