View Full Version : Got my restricted. Whoop whoop!

Big day for me and my bike today. Sat my restricted motorcycle license after 20 years on a learners. My one big whoopsie was pulling over to stop in the break in the yellow lines kerbside, failing to recognise it was a bus stop! The testing officer kept me in suspense when we got back to base. After what was probably only a moment, but felt like an eternity, he returned to tell me I had passed no trouble. If anyone was looking up our driveway this evening they would have seen me in the garage giving my bike a big hug.
Grateful for all the info I have been able to glean from KB. Excited to have taken the next step.:ride:

Buy more life insurance. Your next of kin may appreciate it ... And ... read the road code. (heard of it .. ??)

Nice one SSU. I rode for 17 years on my learner licence. One less thing to worry about!

Well done that girl!
Keep riding, always stay safe, never mind being RIGHT and probably dead!
Enjoy.

Points for trying, but remember, some of us have teenagers...
If the testing officer couldn't fault my riding, pretty happy with that. Besides which, there ain't no bus stops the places I'm heading...
Cheers and happy riding.

Haha, just ignore FairlyJoylessRider.
Such mistakes are easy to make when under such close scrutiny from the notoriously tough Christchurch licensing officials.
Keep having two wheeled fun and well done!

Thanks Sugilite. Yep, sitting the test in Chch is something else. Road layouts and speed limits are constantly changing and road cones sprout up like mushrooms overnight. Lots of roadworks, and at two stages my test took me through major, multi-laned junctions with no road markings.
So yep, a sense of achievement in passing. Cheers for your comments.

Jeez! After 20 years 'learning' I should hope you would pass! How long do you plan on being on your Restricted for?
(Congrats and enjoy your new found improved conditions of riding)

Congrats and well done. I'd be thinking that having a learners that long you'd know how to ride.
Gets me thinking that four years restricted isn't too bad....I might just get my full one day .....:brick::brick:

Noice! I would probably fail my license if I had to sit it now!

Aint it great to not have to worry about not being 100% legal?
It doesn't mean much to some, but lots of us care about it.
Great work that man.

Certainly safer putting the testing officers experience above some stranger who would probably fail the eye test and ask why it wasn't multi choice

40% of my riding is outside of the nonsensical 'allowed' times. Can't wait till that shit is off my back!

Thanks for being glad for me.:wings:
Why didn't I think of a collander on my head? Would have been an improvement on my helmet hair!
And yep, 20 years on a learners is a long time, most of that time spent between bikes (what was I thinking?!)
I plan on going for my full license as soon as I am able - wanna make a memory of picking up my youngest son from school before he is too cool to pillion with his Mum!

Good thinking. I remember the days of pillioning my son to school (every now and again). And that was to high school before he had his own bike...(I taught at his school and he didn't mind being seen on the back of mum's bike - in fact he borrowed it a few times too!)
Good on you.

Oh that is a joy. I take mine to sports games and rides to eat and ice cream. It's a fun thing when your offspring ride with you.

Cheers PrincessBandit, Genie and Micmac,
Awesome to know there are like-minded folks out there.
Posted on facebook recently about my son buying his first car. Got about 35 responses.
Posted about getting my motorbike license. I knew it would be something of a social experiment.
One lonely like. LOL
Great to know there are folks out there who get being on two wheels. :D
Cheers and happy riding.

I can't wait till my kids are old enough to do this. Interestingly my 3yr old daughter is much more interested in bikes than my 6 yr old son.
Getting some resistance from the financial controller on this though...

Such are the joys of being without a full class 6 license.
Translation ... learning is fun ... ;)

Nice one and thanks for making me feel better about the decade that elapsed between my CBT in London and my 6R here.
...I should also add much overdue thanks to Dawn for giving me the pass.
