Sifting through the net and I found these - might have to get an orange set, just to match my sexy wheels

yeah, seen these before. Also saw a review on them too. They colour tyres black during the manufacture, so all they've done here is swap the black for another colour. Doesn't make them any less grippy or 'plastic' (which I just can't get out of my head).
The review I read them on also pitched a pair of 'regular' tyres (forget which brand) on a track vs these tyres. The coloured tyres held their grip pretty damn well, and from what I remember, the test rider said he'd buy a pair.. so can't be bad..

Hahaha.
You have to admit though - a blue, green or orange burnout mark would look pretty cool. Coloured smoke ? :blip:

I think it's good to have that extra option... everyones tastes are different and I'm sure those tyres would look good on some bikes... would just need to get over the inital shock of "OMG you've got pink tyres" lol
Personally I wouldn't be keen on them... unless they were dark blue... which is close to black... so why bother...

Just so we're all clear, they're retreads. Or re-moulds to be fair. Which are a bead to bead retread.
Get fucked if you think I'm going to put retreads on my 150hp sportsbike.

Can you get striped ones ? Or fluoro colours ? Little mirrors moulded into the sidewalls might be nice. Don't suppose they could mould neons in ?
Marknz
20th September 2005, 11:53
yea, we were gonna put those on our bucket racers in aussie but they didn't come in small enough sizes. (but then I've always had that problem with rubber :weep: )
And there may be two version / makers of these, the ones I saw in Sydney were definitely that colour all the way through to the inside of the tyre, suggesting they weren't retreads. But I ain't no tyre technician.

I'll second that emotion. The only test I read more or less expressed an idea along the lines that they couldn't believe manufacturers put something like that on the market.
OK on a cruiser maybe, but on anything that would get near a Z rated speed?
Bugger that!

I always fit tyres that match the colour of my bike. black ones for the GS, and as the RE is a very dark blue, it also gets black tyres.

In that case never ever look down while you are riding your GN, vomiting in a helmet is for professionals only :puke: .
I'll take a pair, and when people give me shit, I'll just say that they were black when I started and they changed colour coz I was going so freaking fast. :scooter:

I prefer black. It's the sort of thing that takes a bit of getting used to, like bmxs with coloured tyres; they were pretty much mainstream for a while.
