Blew all his motors up, never got much more than five miles down the road in any attempt. He's called it a day.

Apparently Chris is handling it with dignity, but his passenger is having a few anger management issues unsurprisingly.

My wife was supposed to be the passenger & me the mechanic for this team, but injury due to a high speed crash at ruapuna in January meant my wife Tracey had to make a call on weather she would be fit enough by TT date & given the type of injury it was decided for her to stand down.
We have had that feeling of sitting & watching from the sidelines since we pulled the pin in January.
It's Chris fourth time, but Darren's first.

Post Sidecar race 1 - 2015 Isle of Man TT
A few moments with the New Zealand crews after Sure Sidecar race 1 at the 2015 Isle of Man TT.

Well, what can we say. Absolutely over the moon about 3 great laps and 105mph lap on lap 2. First lap we had the lanyard fall off which cost us a little over a minute. I got the shits and really took off. A lonely race ensued seeing and overtaking only 3 Sidecars throughout the course of the race. Everything went like clockwork with no real dramas. I rolled a little from windy corner just to make sure we brought it home safely on the 3rd lap. Getting back in to pit lane, we were told we had done a lap of 105mph. Hugs all around. It didn't feel that quick but thats usually what happens. A few drinks later and feeling a little pissed, justified I think. We are both sore and very knackered. I am stuffed up with the flu. Tasted great running down while riding I dont think. Anyway, we are off to the presentation tonight to celebrate our and all the other Sidecar crews achievements.
Now bring on Wednesday to see if we can get that hard earned replica.

When I hear him chat he reminds me of officer #3 in that Monty Python skit about cannibalism in the British Navy...

"We're done for, we're done for !"

"Shut up, Maudling"....

Pretty rapt for him actually, he has had a horror last couple of years with injury, the leg he powdered was nearly right and then he had another big one at turn 1 at Silverstone and nailed it again. Following footage of the out-of-the-seat moment from practice week, we had no idea what we'd get from him in race week, but he's back with a vengeance. A good man.

Sssshhh, there are still two more races left today. But after scungy weather during practice week, it has been faultless all week and pretty much drama-free, mind you I feared the worst when Michael Dunlop cleaned up a lapped rider at the end of the superbike race. The lapped rider broke a collarbone, Dunlop's injuries aren't widely publicised but he's been back to Ireland to sort them out so he can ride in todays events.

The last couple of seasons of 250 production here were quite productive of good riders with Bruce and Brett Richmond both coming to prominence as well as Hepburn etc...At the same time Paul Williams was learning to win on a TZ.
We had quite a good crop of riders then, but you can never pick just which of them will take it further and commit to the overseas lifestyle.
