Aprilia SRV 850 with top speed 190kph. Im still wondering why buy one. $17000.00 and 250kg. Reviews say it handles poorly, is top heavy and has rubbish soft suspension.

What do you want the scooter for? - commuting, run-about?

Have just found out about Aprilla Mana's. That will be a much better option. Needs to be auto.

There's also the Honda DN-01 (http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-812205681.htm). But it's pretty weird looking and almost 40kg heavier than the Mana.

The clue with maxi scooters is the first word. Large, heavy, scooters. No idea which is the best but I was blown away in Europe being passed by a bloke in shorts texting on his maxi. I was doing about 160kmh and hanging on for grim death. Not great with corners or braking, though. Saw lots of wobbling.
I have had my eye on the MP3 and now the Yammie Tricity (http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/bikes/65940707/yamahas-trike-bike-oddity-is-a-car-in-nz).
I'm thinking the 600cc version will come out just when I can afford it.
Just a thought, no doubt easily modified and no feet down.
Late edit. I saw lots of maxis touring in Scotland, from mainland Europe. Usually in the company of a pack of BMW's.

It might be a misprint but the listing is $1000 more than the standard manual on honda's website:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/tourers/auction-849925109.htm
These guys kindly offered to bring in an ABS version of the manual for me last year, also unavailable locally from Honda, as a special order (but I couldn't afford it.)
There's a naked NC750S and NC750D integra scooter version in the range overseas as well, all with DCT transmissions.
Pricey though.

But its manual. See the clutch lever?
Also the X version would be to tall.

Yeah they won't have a DCT in stock, it'll be special order if at all. So no pics, no test rides either. So not really all that helpful.

Very nice, but a bit on the big side.

Suzuki Burgman 400 '08+ or Yamaha Majesty 250 or 400 will do most of the jobs.
For longer rides or often two-up, you may wanna consider a Burgman 650.

What about a three wheeler?
At one end of the spectrum, the Can-Am Spyder:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/other/auction-875877896.htm
and at the other, the Yamaha Tricity (already previously mentioned):

As Moi rightfully pointed out what do you want to do with a scooter.
Sounds like you no better and have ridden them all
Some of us are trying to be of some help but you no better and just want to argue.
Thats why i said buy a tractor

I think the man has it sorted... perhaps this avenue was not the one he wished to ride...

Yeah they appear to be good on most counts popular overseas with good reports.
Not far behind the main players on quality.
It all comes down to support i guess.
Even some of the main players here in nz lack on support even if they have the best product.
We just dont have the numbers of sales to support.
So this sort of answers the question if you are following this post.
Suzuki should be the best maxi as they have sold the greatest numbers not that i would personally rate them as the best quality:done:

I have done a lot of K's on a Burgman 250. Lovely riding, smooth, purred along at 110kph, easy to handle at low speeds but acres of very expensive bodywork.

Yes. The one at the scooter place across from Red Baron does not exist. We went to look at it and got stared at blankly then we were told the bike was not there as the owner had it. I asked why it was on the website and again blank looks.
So we are going down a different path, Aprilia is still #1 contender.

Awesome post thanks maybe i to could do that.
The whole idea with a scooter is to include function with design.
The reason one rides a maxi is to have comfort storage and performance.
If the pureist wanted good looks she or he wouldnt be riding a naked scoot.
I would be on a R1 or k1300:banana:
Its not a argument or a general banter its a fact.
If you guys dpnt appreciate what is going on then its time to return to the main part of this forum where you talk bikes

Settle, I've ridden nothing but scooters every weekday for the last 7 or 8 years. They're great, and the best option for a commute in my opinion. My first post re SYM was a helpful one, this one was just a laugh which is what half of kiwibiker is about.
